Some pubs can open for the footie because they have a licence.

But Parliament can't allow it generally because it needs to be recalled.

FFS - you useless ******* bunch of c***s. Hospitality is on its knees
and you have no mechanism to do this. I despair of this country.

Plenty of pubs have licenses to open, just find one and go there.

I’m all for bashing parliament or councils but this is ridiculous

Isn’t it an 11am KO? Most pubs have licenses from 11, no? What am I missing?
An hour or two or so before would make all the difference to the pub's balance sheet
as we know from the men's matches where pubs are generally rammed well before KO.

So why bother getting a licence in the first place? Presumably it proves you have the right controls in place

Is there a thing about Sunday licenses often starting at 12 instead?

Don’t think so. The local craft beer place near me has announced opening for drinks at 10.30am

This seems like a tiny bit of an overreaction.

This seems like a tiny bit of an overreaction.
One small thing that the govt could do to help out and they fail miserably because
of some archaic laws and/or a lack of any dynamism. That's what annoys me. But hey - let's just keep closing pubs
down shall we and putting over-priced flats in their place?

On Saturday, go to the supermarket, buy some bottles/cans and watch at home. Sorted.

On the other hand, I hope our sermon is a short quick one please, so we can watch from kick off. 🙏

If people are THAT desperate to gather in groups to watch a game of football, how about the pubs open up, but just don't serve alcohol until they are allowed to – or whatever needs to happen to overcome this problem that seems to have folk frothing at the gash?

Do your research:
- Drink in Spoons til 10:50
- Decamp to nearby 11:00-opening pub showing game

Or they could drink as much alcohol as they can pour down their throats with their cornflakes at home. Then nip to the pub for some non alcoholic beers until the second more alcohol is allowed to be served, then resume breakfast in the pub (without the cornflakes). Get rid of the tele as well to leave more room for the alcohol.

Are people really going to rock up at 9am on a sunday morning to get drunk to watch women's football? Is that a pre-requisite?
