Poor decision I think, to drop him altogether. Would have taken both and left Mustard out.

Prior doesnt even know it yet - QUALITY!!!

Graveney - who revealed he had been unable to contact Prior to inform him that he had been dropped - said that Ambrose, who scored 858 runs in last year's Championship at an average of 45.15, would start as first-choice keeper in Tests and Mustard in the one-dayers.

It is going to present a problem next season. Hodd does not really deserve to lose the gloves as he kept very well last year. However Prior is going to want the gloves to prove that he can get back into the England squad.

And that's before you bring Brown into the equation...apparently, he's pretty good.

Much as his batting was fine in Sri Lanka, his glovework has let him down. You just can't have a keeper at international level who spills as many chances as he has.

Frankly, I'm far more surprised that Strauss has been recalled as I really have no idea what he has done to justify it.

He looked decent behind the stumps when he played in that Pro 40 game against Notts.

I've heard he's pretty good as both batsman and keeper. Sussex might well want to give him a few games to keep him keen.

Perhaps Prior might have to play a few games in the Seconds to keep the gloves :D

It certainly wouldn't surprise me to see him play as a batsman only.

I think they were always likely to recall Strauss for this series, partly they wanted him to have a break and partly they need to justify his central contract.

I hope Hodd keeps the gloves, but I can see Prior getting them, which I think will be bad news all round.

certainly puts the cat amongst the pigeons at Hove... a nice problem for Robbo to have - all we need now is to sign a seam bowler

Seems slightly surprising that the champions of 4 day domestic cricket now supply exactly zero players to the test squad. Must surely improve our chances of retaining the title this year?

wherever the money is
Maybe we should spend more time congratulating Luke Wright on making the one day squad instead of talking about Prior losing his place???
