He wasn't British but was the first real 'pop star' in this country and IMHO the greatest singer ever. Was considered better than bing Crosby but was cut down in his prime.

That anyone who believed we would announce any signings by having a press conference today is rather silly. As per normal the club announce signings by twitter/text and updating the official site - not by calling press conferences

Have we signed Gardner?
It's over forty years since I first fell under his spell. The recording that really did it for me was "Maybe I Love You Too Much", made in 1933 with Ray Noble. It was the first track on a double LP "The Golden Age Of British Dance Bands" I bought in 1972. It still has the same effect from the first note of Harry Jacobson's piano.
I'm off to youtube to listen again!
