I know it must be very unlikely but what of this rumour about murray coming back, surely thats a load of old bollocks but if true would any of you welcome him back?

Almost certainly bollox. But of course, still 1% possible, I suppose.

Heard on the radio last week that Hargreaves is more than likely to retire. A real pity, in 2006 he looked world class and was only getting better.

Hargreaves wants now to get his coaching badges, this could work assuming we take him as a ad hoc player/trainee coach on a a low suitable salary and try and get some game time out of him as well as him doing his badges with us.

Back to the topic of the thread then, who could be described as a "gem" of a signing, and yet, be a possible signing for us?

Yossi Benayoun? Could he has reached an age where he just wants REGULAR football?

Unlikely, of course, but "gem" is either an exaggeration, or a player we would initially consider to be unlikely.

Best player in the world cup 2 years ago, Uruguays top scorer, from Man u to Villareal, to Athletico Madrid and Inter Milan then Brighton?

yeah i'm convinced this sounds plausible :moo:

Mr Ward, did you know that it is possible to get snippets of information every now and then ? sometimes a dream can come true (but unlikely now)

doubt Benayoun, still playing for Arsenal, reckon West ham would have him back. The problwm with many players coming from clubs further up the food chain, is that unless they are crocked, not playing or older their ego's and salary demands make it very hard for them to consider either a club lower down the tier or dropping money.

I know, but it would be someone we are not expecting to drop down, or we're left going "how would you describe HIM as a gem"?

Just throwing names around really.

How about Crofty coming back? Would we class that as a "gem"?

i don't think to many would salivate at that G23, could be the box 2 box midfielder we miss now but not a marquee signing to really get the juices flowing and the fans off down to Ladbrokes

mmm debatable....

More of a goal threat yes.... a better player....not so sure

Very dependant on the system we play.
lualua is head and shoulders a better around player . noone i think survives on the sentiment of a few decent moves last season.
