When always positive Icy Gull feels this, it adds credence to concerns that we’re actually not that good at PL football.

Almost 6 transfer windows in and £200 spent in fees, crikey we have a patchy squad.

Don’t let my disappointment make you think that I am losing faith in Potter, I’m not, we are just having problems putting games to bed and other managers have now worked out how to play us. I just hope TB is willing to spend big again to bolster our strike force this month, it is not good enough. I am very aware that GP needs to find the second half of the season answers that CH couldn’t though.

How many of the squad have improved as players under him? Dan Burn ? But looked decent in cup games under CH, Steven Alzate ? Definitely, struggling for anyone else.

How many have stalled or gone backwards?

Any manager that gets a contract longer than 2 years has got it made in this day and age, rolling 1 year contracts is even a gamble these days.

Long Term Contracts are of no benefit to a Manager - They only Benefit the Club and that's because it keeps a Manager on the same Remuneration for longer

Should’ve reacted with Bissouma or Gross on for Connolly by the 50th minute.

It was obvious the tide had turned, they’d packed midfield and that Connolly was a spent force.

Instead GP did a Hughton, nothing. Painful to watch, it was obvious they were going to score.

Mmmmm....they scored only because Mooy lost concentration and passed without looking. It wasn't about tactics or personnel, it was about staying alert and not slipping into autopilot.

The gulf created by the combination of hesitation and complacency is a chasm, and the little Brummy slipped into it and scored

Bollocks need to be kicked, and I fully expect them to be in training at 7.30 tomorrow morning on a frosty pitch. If I were Potter I'd bring in a shouty man from the army to abuse them for half an hour till there is wee and vomit. Then I'd give them all a cuddle and tell them how we are going to unpick 'muff on Tuesday...

Locadia, Ali J, Webster, over 50 million, all over priced and all not good enough.

Winstanley being the common thread.

The second half was all Villa, winning every 50:50 etc, the goal was coming. Genuinely felt like shit watching it all unravel, well before their goal.

Ah well, there’s more to life than the Albion.

He had a great record in the Championship, I think our promotion squad cost £25m?
Benchmark: Derby £62m plus and shite.

His PL record is patchy to say the least. I wonder of The Board and Dan Ashworth have concerns?

More managers tend to get sacked rather than poached, there are plenty out there who have been sacked and their contracts paid up in full in order to clear the decks for a new manager, pricey when its a long contract. I believe Steve Bruce signed a 5 year deal at Toon, I doubt he will last more than 18 months. Kerching !

That NEVER happens

They scored because we retreated back in to a Chris Hughton shaped shell. It was like watching the worst of us last season.

He's improved Burn, Alzate and Propper without a doubt. Dunk is just Dunk. God knows where we'd be without him. Montoya flatters to deceive, one good game for every two bad ones. Stephens has gone backwards, Murray has had it, Duffy is out on his ear. Ryan is arguably even better because we're using his distribution properly. Connolly? It's looking like one good game isn't it. The rest are incredibly inconsistant.

We still need a quicker CM, a forward and a full back but I've given up any hope of us signing these in January now.

If we did drop, I wonder if TB would regret NOT dealing with these positions, even by loans?

He’s the only one it’s going to cost, big time.

We were pretty poor today. Earlier in the season we played this narrow 4-2-2-2 type system and it worked well including away at villa and a number of other games.
Problem is as been highlighted a few teams did a good job against the system recently starting with Sheffield United. We are now trying to pass through midfield in an area of the pitch that is to cramped. We had no width today really and villa’s wing backs especially the right one had acres to run into at times.
Also I was amazed potter got so much out of some of this bunch of players to be honest earlier in season.

Well, yes, I could see it coming too - as soon as Mooy gave them the ball I was up and down like an escort's knickers, and I don't mean Ford . . . .but my point was that that was the actual thing that gave them the goal. Gormless gifting. Had Mooy not done that....I suppose someone else might have...I mean 'of' but maybe not. Villa did bugger all else, didn't they?

Mooy off for whom, though ? ??? Well, any change, 10 min earlier, would not have been Mooy off, though, would it?

And there we are.

Football, my friend, is a Funny Old Game :lolol:
