Isn't it bloody freezing in the hold of an aeroplane? I'd pack them in your hold luggage, you may be tempted to eat them if you put them in your hold baggage, airline food is mostly shit...too tempting on a 24 hour flight.

The whole point is that he wants to eat them on the flight. He will get 20 years hard labour if he is discovered with pork pies in his baggage on arrival in Australia!!

Pork pies will be fine in normal conditions for that relatively short space of time. The pork is highly processed and seasoned and is protected by the gelatine ( jelly covering ) and the pastry ( hot water or cold water, it doesn't matter ) will hold up. They will be fine to eat over 10-12 hours.

I lived in Sydney for a year and there was also an English butchers in the food court of the Northpoint centre on Pacific Highway in North Sydney. This was 10 years ago so no idea of it's still there. They got a good trade though not from me - was far too busy eating South East Asian stuff or wondering why the idiots all put beetroot in their burgers.

I wouldn't even bother pissing around with a cool bag. Just chuck them in your hand luggage. Cooked meat and pastry would be perfectly fine to eat if left un-refridgerated for 24 hours, the fact the meat is encased in jelly can only help. People are too fussy about food these days.

I'd still like to know more about the nutritional content of the aforementioned porkers - esp the aggregate calories of a 12 pack as I suspect this will be greater than your recommended daily allowance [in a 24 hour flight]. So you ought not to eat or drink anything else except water for the entire duration .....
