I saw

Ratings:
Ankergren-6 Did nothing wrong. Didn't have a save to make, but was let down by his defence
El-Abd-4 Obviously we were forced to play him at RB, but he was dreadful today.
Greer-6 Did OK. Drove the team on and was fairly solid.
Dunk-6 Did what he had to do [EDIT for goal line clearance]
Tarrico-4 Not good enough today
Buckley-5 Ineffective
Bridcutt-5 Passing was off today
Harley-0 Dire
LuaLua-5 Ineffective
Sparrow-4 Did nothing of note
CMS-5 Ran a lot, but missed two guilt-edged chances

Subs-
Noone-6 Scared the life out of the Reading defence when he came on. Should have started
Paynter-0 As he has been all season

In another thread, but it's traditional to have a separate ratings thread.

Ankergren 7. OK game. Don't think he had a chance with the goals.
ElAbd 3. Not good enough. Skinned too often. At fault for one, if not both of the first two goals. Scored the third.
Dunk 6. Not one of his better games.
Greer 7. Best of a poor defence.
Tarrico 5. Calamitous first half, slightly better second. Too slow. Time to really hang the boots up I think.
Buckley 6. Showed promise. Some nice touches. I would not have taken him off.
Bridcutt 7. Not one of his best games. One awful pass direct to a Reading player that could have easily resulted in a goal.
Harley 3. Lack of commitment in the tackle. Too easily knocked off the ball. Passing iffy. Does not tackle back when he loses the ball. One weak shot when in a good position. I thought his game was improving, but today he was very poor.
KLL 6. Didn't see enough of the ball early on. When he did he didn't make the best of it.
Sparrow 6. OK.
CMS 7. (9 for effort; 5 for shooting ability).
Subs:
Noone 8. Made an immediate positive difference. Put in more good crosses than the rest of the team combined. Should have started.
Paynter 2. No point.

Ankergren 4 - was v slow getting out at times and what is it with kicking around the back, putting yourself under pressure then wellying it frantically?
El-Abd - 4 poor game defending and was skinned too often but 2nd game back to a higher league. I expect him to improve
Dunk - 5 Was solid at the back with no help from the ref for some of the tackles he endured
Greer - 7 big man at the back. Captain's performance
Tarricco - 5. Better 2nd half but needs to consider retiring for good.
Buckley 6 - was exciting going forward but not enough crosses
Bridcutt - 6 Great performance let down by wayward passing
Harley - 2 Very poor game. He looked lost
KLL - 6 some great touches but too often out of the game
Sparrow - 6 Another Sparrow performance, not good, not bad
CMS - 6 Wayward shooting let down another wonder effort

Noone - 8 - great to see him crossing early and was dangerous from the minute he came on
Paynter 2 - oh dear.

Overall, the result was deserved but we looked v dangerous esp in the 2nd half. 2-1 defeat would have been the right result based on both teams' performances, I'd say.

Ankergren - 7 Did nothing wrong.

Tarrico - 5 Not solid enough.
Greer - 7 standard, solid game, unfortunate deflection for the second goal.
Dunk - 6 Solid, but didn't help Ankergren with a dodgy backpass or two.
El-Abd - 5 A few good challenges but was often caught napping.

Bridcutt - 6 A bit off the boil today, but made some good forward progress at times.
Harley - 4 Not strong enough and seemed reluctant to make any tackles.
Buckley - 6 Ineffective today, but deadly quick and promising for the next few games.
Sparrow - 6 Fairly anonymous today, but not a bad performance.
LuaLua - 6 Skinned their right-back a couple of times, but the crosses were mainly wayward.

Mackail-Smith - 6 Unfortunate not to score, but great workrate and caught their defense unawares a few times.

-----

Noone - 7 Looked brilliant when he came on, and highly productive. Maybe got the kick up the backside he needed by being made to start on the bench?
Paynter - 3 A pretty bad miss, but all strikers have those. Generally he was poor though, if we extend his loan Gus is officially mad or Billy is evidently his lovechild.

El-Abd 4 at fault for the second and third goal
Greer 7 Did the best he could with a makeshift defence
Dunk 7 ditto Greer
Tarricco 5 at fault for the 1st goal losing his man
Buckley 6 tried hard but nothing worked for him today
Sparrow 5 his passing wasn't up to standard
Bridcutt 5 usual performance but got himself booked so missing Cov game
Harley 2 for getting into the right kit
CMS 6 should have put that last chance away
Lualua 6 skinned the full back a couple of times and got the cross in but not used enough when on the field

Paynter 3 if his header had beaten the keeper it would have been higher
Noone 7 looked lively when he came on and did get some crosses in

I can't believe what you are saying about El Abd. He was slow, but very good IMHO.

All these Tano must retire comments! Didn't anyone see the Barnslry game? He was by far the best player on the pitch.

I agree that at his age you should be looking to step aside but he's better than Painter/Vincelot/Calderon

He allowed the shot to get in for the second goal when he should have closed him down or blocked it and scored an own goal for the third. If that's very good, I'm a dutchman.

Ankergren 7 - can't remember him doing much wrong
El Abd 5.5 - the extra 0.5 for his backheel - flair
Dunk 5.5 - out of position too often
Greer 6 - Led defence well, distribution poor
Tarrico 4 - just get up!
Buckley 6 - play him up front!
Bridcutt 7 - solid, exposed
Sparrow 5 - busy at first, less so later...
Harley 4 - fancy dan, lightweight
Lua Lua 5.5 - nothing really came off
CMS 6 - as usual, ran and ran, missed two clear chances at the end

Noone 7 - crosses for CMS x2 and Paynter better than anything else all game
Paynter 1 - missed from 1 yard...will never score

Ankergren 4 - was v slow getting out at times and what is it with kicking around the back, putting yourself under pressure then wellying it frantically?

Agree with this including about overall score, though I'd give Barndoor Billy a 3 just because he actually jumped a few times....still get rid please

Ankergren 6 not at fault for any of the goals
El Abd 5 Exposed for pace but other than that he was solid.
Dunk 6 Assured performance good goalline clearance
Greer 7 Great influence as usual.
Tanno 5 Same as El Abd
Buckley 5 Didnt make enough runs with the ball
Sparrow 6 Very professional performance
Bridcutt 6 His usual reliable self
Harley 6 Good distribution and aweness slightly weak in the tackle but getting better.
Lua Lua 5 Didnt offer enough threat with his runs.
CMS 5 Ran around as usual with plenty of effort but needs to start converting the chances or people will be on his back.

Subs:

Noone 6 Proved a handful when he came on.
Paynter 5 Held the ball up and laid it off a few times but should have scored witha header.

its amazing how some people watch the same game and yet have very different ideas on who played well. 90% are sayiong El Abd was dogshit and 10% are saying he played well. I'll go with the majority i think here and hope its a one off!

El-Abd is not a full back at this level. Once he gets back to centre back, he'll be fine, but with injuries and suspensions, needs must.

But full back is an easier position to play than centre half! At this level he worries me but we will have to wait and see, lets give him the benefit for now and hope im wrong!
