Murray should not even be on the bench going forward. Potter needs to made the tough decision. Bring on more youngsters for now. Give Jahanbakhsh a chance. Just no more Murray please. Wish he had retired last year while on top. Hopefully he can find a managerial role in the club.
Jury out for me regarding Maupay. Can't fault his effort or work rate. You could also say the same about AJ though. Where Maupay fails for me to date is woeful finishing. Lots of running but little else.
No real pressure on the front two places which could be a problem. Potter doesn't fancy Murray and maybe the two strikers know that. After a great start for Connolly he also doesn't look like scoring. Hardly had a sniff today. Maybe to much is expected of him ? Real shame we have no other options.
Likewise, somedays he's half AK half CMS . . .and on other days he's won us a game. 4 goals from 12 games isn't fireworks, does he have any assists?
Connolly has been holding off defenders, running the wings and winning corners etc . . . . I really struggle with Gross on the bench when he's a top 6 PL creator, and a blue arse fly running around up front doesn't deliver anything.
Today's not really the issue, we were up against much better and quicker players on average. But we need to make sure we continue to nail home our strengths and advantages when we reasonably can. And we have done. 12 games in and 1.25 points a game.
12 games, he will end up around 14 for the season. which isn't bad.
It seems to me that when Dale is off colour or more pertinently made to be, we lose all ability to drive our game forward and create or indeed press home our advantage. He’s our fulcrum, and when he flounders we all do. The trouble is that it’s an too regular occurrence against the top half of this division. I guess the rub is this, if we are ever to be much more than relegation make weights, the club need to ask why Dale Stephens is the answer to all the riddles... and if so what is the question?
I think it is this; If we are to really progress who do we need an upgrade on?
The answer is surely writ-large in the above.
It’s frustrating and rather paradoxical that our best player on his day, is also the embodiment of why we are perhaps not really progressing.
We need to look for a viable Dale Stephens upgrade in a world where that is likely to cost more than the worth of Sussex itself.
Shame when reality harshly bites.
Poor performance against a team that is in a false position.
Not the time to be retiring Murray. He’s always been slow. But then he’ll net one and he’s a NSC darling again.
Burn got roasted. He deserves some slack for hos strong season.
Maupay was crap today . He is worth persevering with though.
Montoya is painfully average and I hope there are plans to upgrade.
Potter’s tactics left us exposed. Credit to Man U - they outplayed us today.
Most comments indicate that Connolly had a better game than Maupay was that true in first half and if so why was Connolly substituted?
