Mr Taylor helped us win the championship. How quick we forget. :nono:

Taylor won a championship with Mickey's team. He brought in the likes of David Lee and Daniel Webb. The only contribution of any use was Junior. Fact is he also won Gillingham promotion with Tony Pulis' team.

He bailed on us as he has no stomach for a fight and he is struggling to get Hull out of the Third on a budget that is the envy of many Division One teams.

Highly overrated is being ultra polite.

I also think the stuff about an insufficient playing budget was just a convienient excuse to justify his quick exit. He knew the money situation would be difficult, he must have known that new grounds just don't appear overnight, especially in the South East, but he also knew that without a playing budget his transfer negotiating skills ( basically ' how much does he want a week ? yeah OK then ! ' ) would not work in our current situation.

What I am finding so frustrating about this debate is the red herring of " He only won the league being he inherited Micky's team ".

This is quite simply to most absurd and ridiculous statement I have ever heard.

When he took over we were 3rd having lost at home to Brentford. Whose to say we would have won the league or evern got promoted if Adams had stayed ?.

Therefore Taylor IMPROVED our league position.

He kept the team focused, kept the team spirit at high levels and improved Zamora.

Why do people think that because you take over something successful it will automatically continue to be successful. This is bizarre and very naive.

Its easy to destory a team, ask Martin Hinshelwood.

To return to the original point of this thread, PT is too good a manager for Division 3.

His level is Division 2.

And to be fair to Hinshelwood, he did not destroy the team. In fact his greatest fault was in trying to play THE SAME team in Division 1 as in Division 2. Looking back on Hinshelwoods period in charge, despite the defeats, the team spirit was still there. He was doomed the minute Zamora was injured because there was no reserve forwards of commensurate skill and experience. The team had not been strengthened in the close season. Why ? Because there was no manager to sign new players. Why ? Because Taylor had quit.

Lets face it, MA got us 42 places up the league, PT got us 2 places up the league. PT knew Division 1 was beyond him which is how he's ended up in Division 3 again.

34064 with respect, Hinshelwood did not play the same side in div 1 at all. He played a bunch youth team players such as Hammond, Marney, Hinshelwood, Wilkinson who were not up to div 3 let alone div 1.

Also did you go to the home game against Grimsby when our team spirit had finally been completely drestoyed by Hinshelwood so much so that even Cullip couldn't be bothered !.

Yeah but he was left with no alternative once injuries had started to take their toll.

We started the season with no real proven 1st Division quality players. I believe had Taylor stayed we could have secured some loan deals prior to the season commencing. Hinshelwood had 3 weeks, that's all, to try and strengthen the squad. No wonder he had to blood the youth teamers.

DK should take some of the blame, but it was PT who put us in that situation, not MH. He was simply doing the best with what he had at his disposal, which was insufficient.

And to say that Marney and Hinshlewood jnr aren't up to Division 3 is a joke. I have seen both play and they look to have good pro careers ahead of them ( & not in the conference ). Perhaps you get a kick out of dissing the youth team players just cause they're not an Owen or a Rooney.
