What is it with Albion and penalty kicks????

Not at the match but seeing the attempts at goal on BBC, shouldn't we have been out if sight by half time??

And can somebody PLEASE tell me what is with Barnes taking penalties!!! Surely CMS at least should have the duty!!

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
It seems to have been a problem for a couple of years now - does anyone know the numbers of penalties scored to missed over the past three seasons or so?

The penalty was bad but the rebound was even worse.

Bodgan was on the floor near the corner scrambling to get to his feet and get back across goal. At least half of the goal was completely empty and the ball had dropped pretty centrally for the rebound... why on earth did Barnes hit it the side that Bogdan was? Just sweep it into the empty net out of the keeper's reach and it's an easy goal. As it was Bogdan didn't really have to move

Becoming an embarrassment now, especially when everyone jumps around me in the North Std when we get awarded a pen - i simply stand there as we are almost certain to f*** it up!!

we should of been 3 or 4 up in the first half 2day and i wanna know why cms didnt take or someone else

Think CMS didn't take as he won the penalty. Kind of unwritten rule if you win it you don't take it.
Would be interesting to know if a penalty taker is chosen before the match?

Might have something to do with missing his last one

Please don't give us any more pens refs? We are worse than England from the spot. Our hopes get a boost and then our lads go and let us down, far too often.

Can you imagine what it will be like next week when Buckley is bought down in the last minute, at 0-0? Who will step up? My money would be on Dobbie (if he's on the field)

Saw CMS in the post-match interview when asked about taking the Pens he didn't seem particularly confident about it - certainly not someone who will be grabbing the ball a la Dobbie... Would put Hoskins above CMS also surprised Orlandi isn't taking him. With his skill and placement it would be top corner every time...

This. Not just this season or last. But third season now where Brighton miss spot siters. Woeful woeful team at penalties. Christ if we fielded 11 Germans in a blue and white shirt they'd probably all miss. Beyond a joke. Furious when we missed it, and as for the follow up...Unbelievable. Utter gubbins.

Seen it again on ssn. He is not trying to get to his feet, he is not bothering to stand up he is just moving across goal already expecting barnes to follow up on that side of the goal, barnes instead aims for the gap bogdan is leaving as he moves across. It wasn't a bad idea and if it hadn't caught bogdan's feet we would be complementing his composure and quick thinking.

It was terrible idea, if in fact that was indeed what he was actually trying. There is a massive gap on the right side then put the ball there. If you are going to hit it back where the keeper is then at least lift the ball off the ground by at least 4 or 5 feet and make sure.

We have missed three in a month. And they have all come in games we went on to draw, or lose by a single goal. By my reckoning that's five points dropped, forget about all the other games and missed chances/dropped points, just from missing penalties in the last five weeks.

Are you serious? It was a terrible idea. He has half the goal to aim at, but gently rolls it back to the keeper
