Its too bloody hot for a Brit to win a marathon IMO. It was about 30-40 degrees when they started.

She gave it everything but it wasn't enough

It is unlucky but I think part of the problem with sport in this country is that we heap praise on people who are 'gutsy losers' but as soon as someone reaches the top, people try and knock them.

We should have won at least a couple of medals in the womens swimming as one of our women was fastest in the world this year, and Pippa Funnel should have got a medal in the horse jumping, but both failed and were greeted with ridiculous praise and excuses dished out.

Radcliffe is different because she has been top of her field and cruely unlucky with the heat etc, but I wish we would stop making excuses for our failing athletes.

Funny you should say that, I'm about to run to Eastbourne. That's about 26 miles so I'll let you konw when I get there.

The actual course is mainly uphill as well. It would probably have been better to run the course from Athens to Marathon rather than the other way round.
