Paul Waller to play Brighton concert for Corbyn

Brighton Mod

Its All Too Beautiful

Well, i'm genuinely surprised if this is the case, I thought he learned his lesson with 'Red Wedge' in the 80s.
Weller is a great enigma, I can go to his concerts and love them or sometimes come away feeling completely
underwhelmed, however I always go.

I don't however follow his politics and like all celebrities including footballers, i'm disinterested in what they have
to say as their talent is what I would admire not their outer thoughts.

Anyhow, I'm of to From the Jam that night where I know what I will be getting for the night.

"I think it’s time to take the power out of the hands of the elite" said the millionaire Paul Weller...

Would you regard a millionaire as having power and control of the nation simply by having a few quid? I know several left voting self-made people probably in the 'millionaire' bracket with no effect or interest in power.

It should now be the 'billionaire' bracket.

Massive fan of his music, but he can be a right arse...

PW has stuck with his very publicised principles for a long time, which should be applauded I guess, except sending his kids to private school just like Diane and Shamri (two faced wankers anyone)?

He was known as the angry young man back then, more like the champagne socialist right now. Has been known to fly Easy jet with the hoi ploi , on his way way home from his holiday home in Tuscany..........

lol what polls would that be? We've won all the by-elections, mayor elections?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Wedge

After the 1987 election produced a third consecutive Conservative victory, many of the musical collective drifted away. A few further gigs were arranged and the group's magazine Well Red continued, but funding eventually ran out and Red Wedge was formally disbanded in 1990.

Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it...

Those who think history repeats itself mechanically must wake up every day amazed we are not living in caves

I really think Weller is doing himself no favours here.

The whole idea is crass in the extreme.

Fighting for your political ideas you believe in by staging a concert is "crass in extreme"? Big believer in free speech then?

Plenty of people would think that sticking to one's principles is a good thing. He won't be doing it with a view to his bank account or popularity stakes. He is doing it because he thinks it is the right thing to do.
