Lord Bracknell
On fire
There's a Public Notice in today's Argus that sets out the proposals for East Sussex County Council's new Parking Scheme in Falmer Village.
In summary:-
Three types of space - No Waiting At Any Time; Limited Waiting (Mon-Fri 9am - 4pm); Permit Holders Only (Mon-Fri 9am - 4pm).
Annual Permits will cost £37.50 for residents (£56.25 for a second permit) and £500.00 for businesses. Discounts for LPG vehicles and electric vehicles.
Enforcement will be by the East Sussex County Council Parking Attendants, with a £60 fixed penalty for infringements.
At the moment, this is obviously intended to control unwanted parking associated with the two Universities on Mondays to Fridays. But it'll be a simple matter to modify the scheme to introduce the restrictions at other times of the week, should the stadium be built.
And there we have it - on street parking will be impossible in Falmer Village, once the stadium is open.
And anyone who thinks that Brighton's Parking Wardens are zealous issuers of parking tickets hasn't encountered the ESCC redcoats.
