I'm sure those watching MOTD have just heard. £100,000 fine and a formal warning from Newcastle.

Blimey.

Deserved. Plus he has to wait and see what the FA throw at him, so not out of the woods yet.

In the weirdness that is the Premier League Alan Pardew acting like a tit is a headbutt (it isn't) but the incident makes all the back pages tomorrow.

A £100,000 fine is appropriate.

What the hell has happened to the national game. It's become a circus.

Traditionally, the most a club can fine a player is 2 weeks wages, not sure what Pardews trousering a week but it might well be 50K. This could well be in line with what would have happened had a player done this.

Where does the money from these fines generally go? Pocketed by the owner or given to charity?
Well if the F.A fine him at a latter date, Probably one of those nonsense it gets 'invested into grass roots football' type things, when patently that's where this countries football is going wrong, its a total joke really. The amount of money the FA get one way or another that at grass roots level we still have incompetent coaching and facilities that are a shocking standard - most of them haven't been changed since the 70's and 80's, in all honestly I'm surprised we have any talent at all at a youth level, probably only because big clubs now get kids on contracts when they are about 10. I can imagine Mike Ashley to trouser it for a new garage or something.

But anyway, I can imagine the F.A make up some tosh about where this money goes but in reality its probably pocketed by some wealthy toff sitting behind a computer screen. Given how corrupt FIFA & UEFA are you can't tell me our FA aren't exactly the same.

RE: Pardew, he was an idiot and deserves his punishment even if I don't think it was really a head butt per-say more of a nudge but also Meyler shouldn't be getting in a managers face like that, deserves a ban too for me.

I feel sorry for Newcastle fans. A **** of an owner, who doesn't want to risk them doing well in case they get into Europe, and a **** of a manager.

Not just 'handbags' at all, especially unprovoked from a manager. At a lot of other clubs with more dignity than Sports Direct/Wonga FC he'd be gone by now.

If it's deducted before tax, it's going to be half that. On his wages I don't think he'll be missing the money, more worried about giving them an excuse to cancel such a long term contract.

Perhaps Pardew should have thrown himself to the ground when Meyler pushed past him in the technical area? Is it now acceptable for players to push or even make contact with a non playing member of the opposing team, especially the manager? Pardew will be punished and rightly so, but the lack of respect by the player should not go overlooked, where is the whole lack of respect in the game going? Players tweeting when they're dropped, fake injury on the field of play on an apocalyptic scale, players visibly swearing on the pitch visible to the whole public whilst fans are thrown out for the same, spitting which is a cautionable offence on the streets, highly paid players withdrawing their services because they want to move irrespective of a legally signed contract and now physical contact with the manager of the opposing team. Where is this going to end?

I thought Steve Coppell summed it up quite well in that droll way of his on the radio this morning when he said that he signed Pardew from non-league and that it was 'a non-league reaction'. A great putdown of his former protégé and also very true. It's the sort of thing you half expect to see happen at Whitehawk or at the Dripping Pan or Culver Road, but you wouldn't really expect it in the top flight.
