Too far from the sun
The problem (like most) is caused by a combination of factors:
(1) more strong beer - when I started drinking in pubs just over 20 years ago, most beer was 3.5 - 4 per cent. Now most of it is 5% plus.
(2) alcopops - drink something like bacardi breezers, reef, etc and it doesn't feel like it's got any alcohol in it. By the time you realise your getting drunk it's too late
(3) chucking out time - everyone is thrown out at 11pm/2am rather than going home in their own time. This puts a drunk/half-drunk crowd on the street when they don't want to be there.
(4) lack of transport - now it's 11:30pm and all the buses and trains have finished for the night but there are a load of drunk blokes in town who want to go home, but can't. Worthing only has about 4 taxis who work after closing time so a large queue builds up. There's nowhere to go for a slash either. Blokes fight over taxis or the 'who you looking at' when one goes for a piss

Given just these 4 problems trouble is inevitable, especially when you add the inbuilt English characteristic of aggression

Would this be the same as the inbuilt charecteristic of blacks to mug people?
:nono:

forgot the stronger beer one on my list.

Ive noticed that the younguns seem to lack the ability to pace their drinking, they seem to go like the clappers from the off, it should be easier ito pace yourself if you have different strength drinks.

looney - aggressive behaviour is something that is becoming more and more part of the english way of life. I think it is driven by the fact that our little island is beginning to get a bit crowded in places. Look how people behave regarding road rage, stroppy behaviour towards shop staff, hospital staff, station staff, etc. You rarely see non-english people behaving this way, either in this country or their own, yet you can pick the 'english abroad' from a mile away when in continental europe, sad to say.

Just to add to the above:

Brits go on pub craws, especially in midland and northern cities. Unlike the rest of Europe where drinkers tend to stay in one or two bars. European cities just do not get the concentration of drunks in their cities.

Since the 1980's UK has cut back severly cut back on public services such as public toilets. In Europe the pissoire is located to all near city centre pubs.

20 years ago, there was such thing as super pubs. The biggest place in Nottingham was Yates which was like a wild wst saloon and in Brighton I imagine it was the King and Queen. Both had bouncers unlike the rest of the towns pubs.

Drinks are relatively far cheaper. Especially the special offers. When in Wakefield one club did a £1 a pint all night long.

Europeans tend to go drinking all week, go to Barcelona, Selville, Hamburg, Prague. The Brits throw it down their necks in two nights.

We are a very violent race. Probably the most violent in Europe. Men and increasingly women are unnecessary aggressive to each other in the UK. It is a part of our culture.

In Europe drunks are looked down upon. This is not the case in the UK. We love our drunks.

Bars in Europe do not encourage drunks in their vicinity. In the UK the more they spend is the key motto.

And yes Bars should spend more on supporting services. So what if the drink industry already pay large taxes, most if not all of it will be lost, with the alcohol created illnesses, sick days, accidents and violence as a result of this drug.

I don't go along with the car and drinks lobby, that they should benefit exactly from the suppose tax derivd from their industry. It undermines the strategic planning of services. Take it to its logical conclusion we could end up with great roads but no hospitals or a defence industry. And who paid for the road building programme 1945- 1990 it wasn't the f*cking car drivers, but Joe Public taxes.

Why should the majority of Cardiff and other UK cities on Friday and Sat. not be policed? Because all officers need to serve the City Centre.
