I don't have a particularly hatred of Manchester United, but if you are able to take off your 3D glasses and put down your Manchester United themed Sky Controller it's hard to ignore the fact that there is something terribly Emporer's New Clothes about the Premier League.

It's a bit like the banks isn't it.

Millions of people thinking they must know what they are doing, because they are banks after all.

Some "fans" (and I use the word loosely) need a hard tap on the back of the head. The most profitable football club in the world now has the biggest debt of any football club in the world and the one looking to overtake them as Kings of England are doing so because of the generosity of a Russian Billionaire.

The combined debt of the Premier League is bigger than the combined debt of all the other top leagues in Europe.

At the end of the day football clubs like Man U, Liverpool, etc that floated on the stock market effectively put themselves up for sale so that they could reap the benefits of the cash. Most - if not all - of the current prem clubs have done this to some degree or other. When you float on the stock market ANYONE can buy you, regards of how nice or nasty they are, so long as they get the cash to buy the shares.

Where were all the Man U fans crying about the floating of their club and the creation of Manchester United plc? Most of them were too busy creaming themselves at the prospect of having loads of money to spend on players and that has certainly helped their team to where they are today. But now the chickens are coming home to roost. Big time. That's what happens when you get greedy. And Manu U are as greedy as it gets.

The whole game is obscene. Players in League Two earning four times the amount of our Prime Minister. That all stems from the leading clubs over-inflating the market and which Man Utd are more than culpable of doing so (but not on their own).

I think the Bosman ruling has a lot to answer for here as well.

I think I know what BoF is saying there, the problem is that now Premier clubs are PLCs they are subject to pressures that are not what they were pre Prem League. The fact that so many clubs are either the plaything of a mega rich individual such as Man City or Chelsea or then there's Man Utd and Liverpool (amongst others) who are now part of a corporate global organisation.

I tend to agree with this

the problem is we as football fans ( Leeds United were a classic example) demand better grounds, better players, success on and off the field. To do this you need money.....we have been lucky in getting a "sugar daddy" to bankroll our club - something that teams like Chelsea and ManU are pilloried for, but we are very small fry when it comes to the power men of football. The problem is as Chelsea will find out when Abramovitch walks away, when a club is owned totally and absolutely, they are at the whim of these people. If they want to raise the prices 4 fold, then we as fans have no choice in paying this as shown in the programme.

We do have a choice - and many at Withdean have taken that choice - that is to not pay the money and simply not go to home matches. What keeps people like the Glazers in place is the fact that there are still tens of thousands of locals that will still pay the prices. It's all very well wearing a Norwich scarf to a Man U home match but if they want to actually get rid of the Glazers then they should (1) stop buying the tickets and (2) stop buying the merchandise. Don't see any sign of that really happening though.

I still can't believe the idiots that proudly wear their green and yellow scarfs in a defiant protest against the owners, but then have this seasons shirt underneath. Seems strange to me

Someone who works for me is a regular season ticket holder and has been aware of this situation and what was presented last night for ages. She refuses to give up her season ticket as a protest for the simple reason, there will always be a fan willing to replace her and therefore would be a wasted exercise!

I just cannot fathom what if any, checks are made against these people willing to buy a football club in this day and age?! Unbelievable!!
