Quote: Edna KrabappelAs for part two of your cunning plan: can you seriously envisage the response if the police told 26,000 Albion fans they had to wait in their own stadium for 10 minutes to let away fans out?
I think facing the Palace fans would be far more acceptable, given some of the comments on another thread regarding early leavers.

For f*** sake you will still get home at three, stay behind for A pie and pint or use that as sunday diner. Let the dicks who wish to be dicks have there 20 minutes of fame, wait till they have pissed off then go home..... Failing that park in moulsecomb and walk that way.....

One match a year and the amount of people that can't put up with a little bit of inconvenience. Christ, can you imagine the comments if we got to Wembley and all these people will expect to walk straight out and onto a train. Of course the alternative is a free for all and the problems that will bring with it. The could of course keep them in for, what how long would you suggest bearing in mind the queues for the trains and P&R are still there half an hour after final whistle.

No, no that WOULDN'T be the simple answer, would it? How is that in any way simple? How do the Palace fans living in East Sussex, for example, get to the game (before you say it, there are plenty, I was on a Wivelsfield- Lewes train recently after they'd played at home and there were loads on there).

Much as we all want to despise them on the pitch, ultimately, most of their fans are no different to most of ours: they just want to watch the game, win, drink a beer or two and sing a bit. I don't want them treated like animals any more than I wish to be when I go to their filthy shed of a ground. That sort of treatment only winds people up and is likely to make those inclined towards aggression act up even more.

As for part two of your cunning plan: can you seriously envisage the response if the police told 26,000 Albion fans they had to wait in their own stadium for 10 minutes to let away fans out?

I HATE all that "bubble" crap that some clubs enforce at high profile games. I hope to god we never stoop to treating people like that, whichever team they support.

The bubble crap, that has prevented people getting hurt by knuckle draggers.

I have one of the cheapest season tickets in the stadium (WSU south end), but I'm going to have to follow the same procedure at the Palace match. It's making me a bit uncomfortable about having to mix with my betters on the way round the stadium to the buses, I must say. What if I were inadvertently to say something uncouth? I will, however, do my best to walk behind those from the posh seats, at a suitably respectful distance, with my head bowed.
I really think that proper segregation of the different classes of customer has to be the way forward.

My s/t is one of the more expensive ones, but Barber has made not yet made direct contact with me, to run through my preferences for leaving arrangements for the Palace game.

Poor show, the Albion. Barber out.

I have already posted this on Ask The Club, but feel so strongly that I hope others will follow suit and complain.
I have a ST in WSL. I have one of the most expensive standard tickets in the stadium. I leave with my wife and son the moment the whistle blows and we exit left from the West Stand to run along the back past the South West corner along the side of the bank under the coach park then into the Mill Road Park & Ride filter. Now for the Palace match, with no explanation, we have to make our way all the way round the stadium to return virtually where we started except we will miss all the buses, be last in the queue, forced to walk past the Palace fanss who, of course, will be on their best behaviour, and get back to the Mill Rd P + R significantly later than usual. Why are your best customers (as we are now known) being given the worst treatment. Frankly it's not good enough and must not set a precedent.

You won't miss the buses as they will be well aware of the change.

In the words of my son why cant Sussex Police do what the Met did at Selhurst, kept them in after the finish and then escorted them in a long queue direct to the station and not allow anybody to break off, apparently it was very successful.
It might have been successful but locking fans in is actually illegal
