How would going all out attack at 1-0 up against 10 men at home, upping the tempo, potentially leaving ourselves exposed at the back, for what, maybe another 1 or 2 more goals for the goal difference at best or losing our lead at worst, be of any benefit, especially when we have a long away trip to prepare for on Tuesday? Those saying we didn't play well are, of course, entitled to their opinions, but they do seem somewhat illogical. Our players barely had to break a sweat, which is exactly what Hughton wanted with a long, tough away trip on the horizon.

Of course we all want to see us smashing teams into oblivion, but the measured approach is definitely the correct one.

This team playing in this way will get us promoted. They find a way to win and rarely concede a goal. Over the course of the season that will win more points than a marauding swashbuckling side that tries to score more than it concedes.

The Championship is all about attritional football. Hughton knows that, and he knows how to set this team up.

Most teams won't gift us 2 penalties and have a man sent off before 30 minutes
What would have happened had Leeds not given us the first penalty? That's right, we'd have been 1 nil up. The ball was going in, and the only way Phillips could stop it was with his arm.

So the only thing they gifted us, was going down to 10, and we'd have been 1 up if they hadn't.

Thread starter a bit tongue in cheek me thinks.
Did enough so no point in taking any risks, save it for the next game.
Good job well done.

Thought we played better than we have for a while, particularly in the first half. We seemed far hungrier and the passing was crisper.

Completely agree. For the first time in ages we seemed up for it from the first minute. Stephens looked much better today, and Knockaert almost back to his old self. The back four were excellent, and Baldock ran all over the place. And - both penalties were quality.

Leeds are a reasonable team, but they didn't come near to us, even when they had 11 players on the pitch.

Great result tonight but we were gifted the win by Leeds. Performances recently have not been good enough recently, big improvement needed in the next few games if we are to pick up wins

WUM or **** ?

I think we need to improve. What's all this talk about being top of the league? We still haven't even confirmed relegation safety yet!
Rotherham have 88 points to play for.
Playing as badly as we currently (obviously) are, we could be relegated by Easter.

We are playing similar to Middlesbrough last season, not yet at our best every game but very difficult to break down and score against.Wait until Kayal returns stronger, he turns defence into attack quicker(needed away) but he's replacements are doing a great job

It is a point that so many teams have defended terribly against us, and gifted us goals this season. I wonder why that keeps on happening............

It's like the old golfing quote, which has been attributed to all sorts of players including Lee Trevino and Tony Jacklin: "it seems the more I practice, the luckier I get".

So as well as giving credit to the players, INCLUDING Baldock and Norwood, credit needs to go to the management and coaching. Maybe this "together" lark actually means something.

We didn't need to 'rip them apart'. We struggled to keep the ball against 10 men for long periods, that is not acceptable

The stats say you are wrong. WE had 60% possession overall and 18 shots 7 of which were on target. Leeds on the other hand had 40% possession with just 2 shots neither of which hit the target. Is that evidence of a team struggling to keep the ball?

Really?

As an outsider I thought it was pretty much the perfect Performance for a game this time of year.

Early goal, keep the ball and make them do the running - granted it was made easier as they had 10 but at no point was there any danger apart from Wood scuffing a shot.

Complete second gear with plenty in the tank for the busy period
