...could all be over by 3 pm today.
Football will have no meaning to me if that's the case.
An AFC Palace wouldn't be the same. I might look at the occassional England match, look at your results once in a blue moon but that's it.
Here's hoping we'll meet again.....don't know where, don't know when....

It ain't gonna happen but I'm sure you'd come around to being an Albion fan if it did..eventually

True, Simster, but we all know people don't invest in football clubs to make money (well apart from a select few ) they typically do it out of a sense of community, or because they support the club, or have money to burn.

If these guys are genuinely about "saving" Palace, then they will do it regardless, not issue hollow threats to walk away if they don't get a club with all it's saleable assets lined up neatly on a plate for them. Buy the club, sell some players. At least they'll still be alive and their staff will get paid.

Sums up my views on the subject, although the problem seems to be Bank of Scotland changing the agreed deal on the purchase of the ground.
Never the less totally unimpressed with this consortium

That's easy to say when it's not your money on the line. It's not just about "saving" a club. They'd need an asset to sell so that when their time is up, they have something to sell on.

On a side issue, the thread title is one of the biggest arse licks I've ever seen on here. What is so "fantastic" about our rivalry then? We've only played each other 4 times in about 3 DECADES, ffs.

An arselick maybe, but if you dont ' get ' the rivalry between brighton and palace, and you're old enough to remember when the two teams met regularly, then you just dont ' get ' football.

Oh I get it. I remember it well although not as early as the 70s. I was there in 1985 with 8,004 others when Gerry Ryan had his leg snapped by Henry Hughton, I was there with 13,000 for the Kelvin Morton game, I remember the 2-0 home game with the North stand shut at the Goldstone.

But you misunderstand me. How can it be a fantastic rivalry when we've barely played them in 20 years or whatever? ???

Incidentally, why don't you use " instead of ' and a space?

As a Stockport County fan due to come out of admin tomorrow (finally!) I wish Palace the best of luck and hope you pull through. We've just come through the lowest point in my time supporting the club and it has been horrible, my sympathies are with you.

We had a chairman who just wanted to save the club despite us not having a ground or any saleable players and he did it and now we have Falmer on the horizion.
So you won't get any f***ing sympathy here, if your consortium really cared they would buy the club and play anywhere like we did unless they are in it for the money and you'll be in administration for the THIRD time in a couple of years.

The stumbling block is the fact that whilst Lloyds are prepared to sell the ground to CP2010 for less than it's actually worth they contend that should the ground be sold by the new owners they want a substantial piece of that pie back. CP2010 are not happy with that although I think Lloyds (currently owned by you and me, the tax payer) are not being unreasonable IMHO. As it is these 'fans' who are part of CP2010 seem to want their cake and eat it. Granted they don't want to take the hit that Tangoman has taken but at the same time cut the crap about 'dedicated fans' as they are the problem now not Lloyds.

Exactly, their focus should be on saving the club from extinction and spending the summer looking for a ground share that suits the club and more importantly the fans best.

If the club is liquidated today then some of the blame must rest on the consortium for failing to sort out the issue surrounding Selhurst park, they can bitch and moan all they like but at some point they should have accepted that they wouldn’t get it at the price they were willing to pay.

I totally agree with you, but equally I do think it's unreasonable to expect a deal that excludes the one tangible asset they have.

As has been said, this deadline needed to be put in place, in order to force the issue.

My opinion too.
No problem in supporting a petition to save CPFC but one designed to lobby the govt etc to somehow arm twist Lloyds/HBOS into selling the ground on the cheap - No F*****g Chance.
If it were the Albion in this position, I would worry about the true motives of a takeover consortium engaging in such obvious brinkmanship.

But this asset belongs to Lloyds not CPFC/CP2010 and they have a duty to ensure to get the best deal for their shareholders.

The deadline has been set because the administrator has run out of cash, so cannot continue to operate the business, and the hedge fund is withdrawing financial support.
