Superb display by El Abd! Sure, at the end, had to rely on Blayney to not join McShane in the OG column, but El Abd showed excellent anticipation, composure and strength throughout the game.

This is 3 fine performances in a row at CB from Adam and, remarkably, we might not miss McShane that much - words I thought I'd never write.

El abd hasnt become good overnight, people before didnt rate him because he was being played a right back and that isnt his position. When he's played centre half hes always looked good.

Blackstock is a decent, quick player. Just because he beat Guy once (I think one other Derby player might also have outpaced him in the second half), I think it's pretty ungenerous to say he played badly.

We know what we bought in Butters, a quick brain and anticipation, not quick legs.

I like the balance we have in our defence, and I think Butters did OK today, maybe a few passes not to his usual good standard, but he played a big part in our clean sheet today

Did I say you did? Mine was general reply to about 3 or 4 people on this thread who were not putting criticisms of Butters in what I think is the right context.

We agree then, Butters may be caught out for pace on the odd occasion, you have to accept that, but the experience and positioning he gives our defence is pretty invaluable
