Only 5 days apart:

This kid is miraculously still alive (https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/apr/17/black-kansas-city-teen-shot-wrong-address)

This girl isn't (https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/apr/17/new-york-man-open-fire-murder)

How can you let an 85-year-old with no supervision have a loaded firearm in his house? They whinge on and on about "doing mental health tests" for gun owners instead of limiting guns altogether, and then leave them in the hands of people past 80 anyway.

Not to mention the total disconnect in many Americans' brain between "shoot first, ask later" and ending an innocent person's life, they do it so casually it's really terrifying.

Small brain USA reaping what they sow. It's entirely within their remit to make that firearm thing infinitely better. F*ck 'em if they choose not to do so. Tho that's not much consolation to the innocent victims

At 4am this morning, Republicans in Iowa senate passed a bill that allows 14-year olds to work nightshifts, 15-year olds to work assembly lines, and 16-year olds to serve alcohol.

Equally shocking is the proposal for 14 year olds to be allowed to drive to work, and that 14 1/2 year olds can already get special permission to drive themselves to school!

The Brits have always loved to take the piss out of America

But are we really that far behind ???
Not really. It's only last year that a teacher was effectively sacked for showing children pictures of Mohammed, with prior warning - and Mohammed was fully clothed.

Rather than take another thread off topic, I think you'll find plenty of the type you're looking for here Bear Pit. And good luck with your campaign to change people's opinions of Burnley supporters

Averaging 2 mass murders A DAY? Yes, yes we are in that respect, and they far, far outweigh us on the levels of absolute religious &/or right wing nut jobs, too

I agree. My nutjob meter has been going off since Trump gave freedom to the underground nutjobs to come out that the number of nutjobs has really increased. Here's to a decrease back to "normal" of US nutjobs in the future.

America has lots of extremes , some very cultured intelligent people who live mainly in the big cities like NYC etc and plenty of badly educated roughnecks who are easily persuaded to vote or believe almost anything . Take a look at the audiences of the Ellen show when it was on and the other chat shows in the States , the audience aren’t the brightest .

When authorities arrived at the location, they found several victims shot at the property, police said. Three of the deceased were females and two were males, including the youngest, an 8-year-old boy.

Two female victims were discovered in the bedroom lying on top of two surviving children, authorities told ABC News.

...

Police said they believe the massacre occurred after neighbors asked the suspect to stop shooting his gun in the front yard because there was a baby trying to sleep.
