I can make endless puns about Harry Potter and his magic.

He took his family to another country to pursue his an unlikely dream.
He bothered to study psychology along the way.
He went from forgettable footballer to Premier League manager.
You can rate or not rate Potter as a manager, but as as person he commands respect.

Agree. And the one thing I like about Potter is I feel we’re one striker away from being the full-ticket: a young, brilliant vibrant and exciting team. Feel, or maybe it’s hope.

Well remembered.

For me, it’s his sartorial elegance.

I’d add a few accessories, a little bag, maybe a brooch on that lovely cashmere coat, otherwise I’m with you.

This could have been written about him.

"If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!"

Calmness and control when things aren't going as planned.

I'd also like to say that I've found this thread to be the most uplifting and satisfying I've read on NSC.
Thank you blue-shifted for starting the thread.

Mentality: At no point this season do I get the faintest impression that the players have lost faith in the process. Whatever happens, he's got them all believing that's it's the right way of doing things and that it will work. It's that confidence in his method that keeps the players playing for him and in his style.

Just one thing hmm... His arse.

Or maybe that he likes to give players that other clubs find too bad / too small / too weird a chance to show what took them somewhere in the first place. Like in Östersund with their mix of rejects/refugees/ex-criminals/lower league English players, or in Swansea where he gave the chance to 10+ players previously seen as shite by former managers, believing that if they are allowed to express their personalities and qualities on the pitch, they can be good enough.

Do we have any of these players at BHA? Maybe Connolly? :eek:

...and that is a very valid point ...before yesterday’s game pundits were comparing point totals this time over the last two seasons compared to CH ..,with no disrespect meant to the latter his side were probably deserving of that total and playing to there maximum potential....this side deserve more and can get better ...so there has been progression

That he has stuck to his principles, and kept with the Hughton philosophy of not getting too high after a win or too low after a defeat. Must've been very difficult after some of those losses.

I very much like the way he refuses to blame anyone or anything else when things don't go well.

Most managers will blame the ref, injury's to key players, oppositions pitch too dry, too many games, wrong kick off time etc, etc.
