I know it's unlikely to happen, but is everyone completely anti this idea? Personally I like the idea of having two teams of that size in the Premiership. Given time to realise that their current teams are shit I think they could challenge the status quo. You would Rangers, Celtic, Chelsa, Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool & more. Seems like a good idea to me

Happy Birthday.

But where would you put them to start with. Straight into the Premiership? f*** that, I wouldn't want to be booted out the league so that they could play in the English leagues. And why stop there? Aberdeen are probably good enough to play in the Championship, why can't they join too.

In theory, yes it would be ince. In practice, not happening.

totally against the idea. they have there own league not really our problem they mucked it up. If it happened what would stop France from invading our league or belgium or holland, you get the idea

I guess a lot of the scottish premier teams probably rely on their four home matches a season against the two old firm teams. If they didn't have these matches would they survive.

I suppose teams like Abredeen, Hearts etc would be put in the Championship.

Anyway, I'm not asking anyone to organise it, but in theory are you for or against it? I personally think it would be great. Imagine if a Scottish team & an English team were fighting it out for the Premiership or the FA Cup Final - it would be awesome.

Totally against it. They can stay where they are and while were at it lets kick the taffys back into their own league as well.

Look at Celtic - O'Neill has left, Larsson has left, Bellamy didn't join and neither did Niemi. Instead, they've managed to sign Telfer and Virgo.

Look at Rangers - it was not long ago they had Numan, Van Bronckhorst, Albertz, a reasonable Kanchelskis. Now they're buying the likes of Alex Rae, Gavin Rae and Ian Murray.

I think both would have been top half of the Premiership 2 or 3 years ago, but the debts they are amassing mean that even if they were admitted in a year's time they'd struggle to compete with the big boys.

If the Premiership want to enhance the quality would they not be better off giving a place to Artmedia Bratislava?

I LOVE you xx.

On a SERIOUS note however, if Aberdeen were in the Championship we would easily get 20,000, more for the likes of Ipswich (who we love to remind about the thrashing we gave them over two legs in europe when the were UEFA cup champines).

Our financial status is also WAY better than most CCC clubs because of our backers and the oil industry, its not long ago that we were paying £1 million for players and we still compete on wages, our fans would also travel in BIG numbers, especially to Burnley/Preston etc etc as it takes just a tad longer than it does from say Brighters and Aberdeen have a massive support in the Central Belt (3rd most supported team in Glasgow after the old firm), we would EASILY get 2000 for most Northern games, I think most teams would welcome that income.

Its only pre-season, but anytime we have played in England we normally take 3000+

Definatly not, if they must join our League they start at the bottom and work up.

I do actually agree that really the Welsh clubs should also play in their own League, onlt excuse should eb acompletly itegrated British league, where all Scots League clubs are placed on merit.

Why should they? The Premiership doesn't owe them a living. They've done nothing to make the Premiership the league it is, and yet they want a slice of the pie now that it's the richest league in the world?

Also they say the SPL is holding them back, but if you dare to suggest that in the Premierhsip they wouldn't be a very good side they come back with, ah but we beat Liverpool, we beat Barcelona, we hardly ever lose at home in the Champions League. So how is the SPL holding them back?

Spot On.

It ISNT, its just about MONEY, they still pay their players more than average Prem Clubs and they have the added bonus of European Football EVERY year guaranteed.

Its about GREED.

Most prem grounds already sell out each week, so why would they need the big two or three from Scotland.

As I said before, why should we support Scottish sides. France and Paris is much closer to most of the prem clubs. Going to Paris would be much more interesting than Glasgow.

:D

Lets not forget Sky money will invigorate the Scottish sides and there would be no reason why they couldn't replicate their English cousins.

Its no different to Porto, Sporting Lisbon and Benfica being held back in Portugal.

possibly - a UK league could be the way to go. I'm worried that English football is already going the same way as Scottish with only a couple of teams in contention.
