right midfielder at centre back and another midfielder right back... seems familiar trend though he usually waits a season or two.

why does he tinker so much with players playing outwith their proper positions.

Liked him when he was here but his continual tinkering was always a baffler..

That's odd, he normally starts well with what's been left to him then turns it into shit, perhaps for once he's going to do the reverse and Aberdeen will be champions in a couple of years... If he lasts that long.

It was his 1st game in charge, do get a grip even if you do hate him ffs. I seem to remember Strachan getting a thumping in his 1st game in charge of Celtic and Ferguson for United.

Hove, f***ing ACTUALLY.
For once McGhee was totally blameless.

I was at the game last night, he had 12 players to choose from, 2 of those are completely inept and are at the club because of nepotism. He had no option but to put out the side he had.

15,000 paid £22 to watch a side that has been ripped apart by a board (who have the colective personal wealth of over £400 million (yes its a f***ing joke). Lots of ugly scenes after the game and many many will not be back.

We couldnt even afford £35,000 for the fee for player which the golfer Paul Lawrie offered to pay out of his own pocket, its a f***ing scandal of the highest order. Aberdeen Asset Management who effectively own the club make £35,000 profit every 175 minutes, the chairman has a personal wealth of £250 million, so you can see why no anger is directed MM's way, and wont be. I many ways he is even more popular after last night because he said on Wednesday that the situation is just a joke.

If the club is in such a shite state, why did he take the job on when he was sitting pretty comfortable at Motherwell?

It's not rocket science is it. Aberdeen are a bigger club than Motherwell. Plus he played for them in their hey-day and has, no doubt, a great affinity with them. As manager, he will want to try and restore the club to a position when they can take on Celtic and Rangers once again. It's called a challenge.

Christ alive, we're just about to kick off a new season with a new team and with a fabulous new stadium being built and yet what are people doing? Still banging on about Mark McGhee. It's absolutely pathetic.

The guy specialises in taking jobs at clubs in a shite state and doing rather well once he has had more than two games

Pathetic? Our club history and the current doings of our alumni (especially when those alumni were subjects of huge debates and their success of lack of it after leaving adds more to a discussion on a board that is designed to host discussions) shouldn't be off limits.

Come off it. Mention Mark McGhee's name on this board and within a few minutes several people will start slagging him off. You know that. I really don't know how comments like "f***ing wanker" add to the " huge debates" you mention. Not exactly raising the level is it. It is pathetic.

But those simplistic comments from people who are unable to properly debate are usually accompanied by people who can and do put forward their cases for whether he was good or not.

If we banned any topic because some posters aren't writing intellectual missives then we'd have nothing to talk about. Yes there are some pathetic posts about mark mcghee, but there are also pathetic posts about politics, brighton pride, nationalism, celebrity, music, films, football, specific players (current and former), quality of our games or other teams games etc.

If it's not about banning topics, just a case of this annoying you, the title wasn't misleading, would it have hurt to not open the thread?
