So.........what's this thread about then???

I think, to paraphrase, we are mostly praising the hero Barber for having the strength and fortitude to drive the useless monkey-faced Uruguayan out of our club so we can move on quicker to the promised land of cash and cakes. However the villain Poyet is using underhand socialist worker tactics in order to derail our inevitable flair-induced promotion next season. Something like that.

Of course, the employer has hauled up it's employee on a serious misconduct charge and the union has played it's opening gambit in an pretty poor attempt to gain the moral high ground that has nevertheless mesmerised the numbskulls on here

Opening gambit? What a clueless comment. No employee wirth an ounce of sense would go into a disciplinary hearng on a day when their rep wasn't available. No-one should be expected to have just one weekend to read, digest and reply to 500 pages of report either. The union won't have put anything that isn't true into a public statement like that because if they did it would come back at them.

How I read it is they got the particularised version on the 13th i.e the specifics of each charge.

This is not to be confused with the 500 page document that the LMA said in their statement is made up of lengthy appendices anyway and they have been sitting on before the 13th.

In other words they and Gus would have already known what the charges were and 4 days to read the specifics is ample in the clubs eye's.

Irrelevent, the 500 page document still needs to be read, digested and replied to. Even without that, 4 days is not sufficient time to reply to the original document. I've been a Union rep and there's no way I would have accepted a mere 4 days when a member's job was on the line.

Why was there a financial offer made which Gus refused?
Some explained this financial offer as the club asked Gus to pay. Now we know that the document was not given to Gus until AFTER the financial payment was turned down, the chances of this being true is very slim.
The most plausible answer is - he has no case to answer and to keep this in house pay him off. He obviously feels let down by the club and has refused as he wants to clear his name. Which anyone would do if you know you have done nothing wrong.

As I have said before, I do not want Gus back. Why? Because the club has made sure whatever the outcome of the investigation the fans will not want him back. A fantastic manager not perfect at all, we all know he made errors, was stubborn, plan b was lacking and said things he shouldn't. But for all that in my eyes he was a great manager for our club and would eventually get us to where he wanted us to be. I do believe the guy to blame for all this is Barber, he clashed with Poyet he wanted rid and he wants to make sure that the fans want rid. Thats the bit I do not understand, Poyet and the team managed to silence kevtherev for so long but after a bit of spin from Mr Barber, Poyet is the bad guy before we even know what the allegations are or if they are true.

Way to sensible a post for this time of morning. Sadly I think this will gt eaten up with lots of the other bile that gets written on here, so for what it's worth, very much 'this'...!!

Back of North Stand
Getting Excited about going down this season.
Reduced season ticket prices.
Smaller queues at the bars, stations and bus stops.
Three or four seats to yourself.
Carslisle away.

Can anyone think of anymore positives??

To be fair, union reps are usually bombastic twats anyway, so one being a bumptious, inflexible arse is not surprising now is it?

Here
The option of a negotiated departure is always available. As is usually the case when football managers leave before a contract is up.

IMO this is the only viable option. The sooner the posturing stops the more quickly we'll reach this phase.

The one thing that strikes me in all of this is the club obviously want Gus out, and I'd stay its fairly obvious we have someone already lined up, waiting in the wings to take over, but who ?
This whole affair is starting to leave a bad taste with a lot of fans, and if the club now employ someone who's a bit rubbish, the club may just cop a fair bit of flack over it ?

The arse end of Hangleton
Can anyone clarify - is this sort of thing usually sorted out between lawyers, or could it go to tribunal? if the latter, it could take months.

It won't go to a tribunal - it will go to County Court with one or both parties suing for breach of contract and compensation. County Court is open to the press and the public so expect A LOT of dirty washing to be aired ...... in public !

Just far enough away from LDC

We only have theclubs thinly veiled inference that this is the case. We then have the lma statement with thinly veiled inference that the club us not following its own procedures and is being unreasonable. I know which one a court or tribunal would look more unfavourably on.

The question is, if Poyet had stayed (I think we can now assume he's as good as gone) would we have gone up next season? I think we would have had an outstanding chance. If he hasn't done anything to justify his suspension, the club are going to have a hell of a lot of questions to answer.

Think we should just keep bouncing this every time the witchunters start blabbing.

It's not a 500 page report, the appendices that are referenced in the report are of that number.
I would expect a dozen pages or so commencing with a page of 'management summary' & much of appendix will not require word by word analysis. For example, the first appendix could be the clubs term & conditions of employment of, say, 100 pages long. This has been available & noted by all parties for months and simply included as a matter of completeness. This will have been examined previously so it is misleading to state that '500' pages require re-reading, they don't

Not sure why everyone is obsessed with his TV appearance. He was working. Completely irrelevant.

Seemingly because you can't stay up late and still be able to get up teh next day, its not as if he was out drinking. Maggie thatcher infamously used to survive on 4 hours sleep a night but there must be a lot of people on here who obviously need their 8/9 hours sleep to function (they can't have children :) )
