I must answer your request to virtually run Hove Park with us. On one hand you can virtually do it as the ethos is for each runner to run to the best of their ability on a given day. This Saturday is a fun day and the big day is 13th June when we be fully recovered from the marathon, etc. so build up to the second with a PB in mind.
However, on the other hand your times look too fast. So on that basis you have to stay in a virtual Challenge of your own. :)
Keep us posted as it will be a good comparison and next season or earlier you can always set a date when your in Hove.

Ha-ha, speed is something of a recent phenomenon for me, or rather being less of a snail going up hills is. I put it down entirely to running about up on the North Downs recently.

I've only just ducked under 20 minutes for 5k in the last few weeks (and surprised myself when I noticed my 5k split on the 10k I did at the weekend was actually about 10 seconds quicker than my pb!), so I'm just happy to keep on testing my limits while I still can. I'd certainly encourage everyone to do Park Run when they can as it does encourage improvement - it wasn't that long ago I was aiming at sub-23 minutes, let alone anything else!

About 5.....! First three at Clair Park in Haywards Heath, remarkably two identical times and one 3 seconds different, and now a couple in PP. Did one official 10k in 2005, a few West Sussex Fun Run league races and I think 3 half marathons. I really need to do more shorter races to try to speed up a bit. Parkruns are brilliant - loads of stories like the above

I think I've run 31 Park Runs - first was at Richmond, all the rest at Guildford. No chance of getting to 50 before I'm 40... as there aren't enough weekends :(

I haven't exactly been regular over the years as I've been interrupted by training for half-marathons, and had been over the road at the Spectrum taking the boy to his swimming lessons for a while when the run was on (though his lesson is Sundays now). Mrs Orange used to volunteer when the boy was very small, which made for a nice family morning out. :)

I'm up to 29 parkruns.

I'm part of the Core Team at Maldon Prom parkrun, So I reckon my volunteer tally is more than my run tally!

I'm getting close to 70 park runs. Mostly HP, also PP, Tilgate which is really nice and a couple at Skipton (in laws). Still waiting for my 50 t shirt from last Autumn!

I've also heard about the hove prom plan, parking would be an issue but I reckon it would start/finish at the lagoon where the 10k is run from.

Anyone else doing the Great Manchester 10k Sunday? I have only been out for a run twice since the Brighton Marathon so not exactly prepared but did 10k earlier without too much trouble. I think this is the fourth time I've done it and it's usually a good turn out.

Just back from Guildford Park Run. My unofficial time is 19:42.

How did the rest of you chaps get on down in Hove?

Awesome !

Good to meet up with knocky1 and Gregbobkin. First time at Hove for me, must be a fast course, knocked over a minute off my PB, unconfirmed 19.57. Mightily chuffed :cheery:

Great effort. Getting under 20 minutes for me was a big thing and I haven't been back since mainly due to marathon training.

Are you there on June 13th? I would imagine we would finish extremely closely to each other.

Went out and ran 10k yesterday as knew I was missing out today. Wind was easterly so first 5k 22:23 into it, final 5k 20:57 - 36 seconds away from pb but good to be running quickly again rather than churning out mile after mile.

Hope to enter park run in 2 weeks in prep for the big one.

Great 10k.
I was only hoping for sub 21, PB before today was 21.08.......bit surprised.
Sadly not, June 13th (and 14th LOL) is the SDW100. I'll be mainly aiming to do 15 minute miles [emoji3]

Good to meet you this morning dazzer6666. 21:26 for me, exactly the same as two weeks ago but after a few beers last night so that's ok. Think I'll be struggling for a top 5 finish on 13th at this rate.

You too.....decent effort after a few beers. Do I take it the local pubs are not going to do too well in the lead-up to 13th then ?? [emoji3]

Knocky was just behind, about 20:30 (wine-fuelled [emoji3])

Wasn't a very good pacemaker as you were too bl**dy fast for your pacer. 100 mile runners are meant to be slow! No detrimental effect from wine fuelling as I am a Saturday 5k hangover professional. Thanks to you taking over the pacing after a mere 50m I managed a best time in 6 years following you to the finish line despite not being able to see you.
I will await the results before posting the time. This Challenge has gone beyond a joke with everyone running too fast and I am considering having two Challenges. The first and most important based on time and the second based on Age Related percentage (thanks @ Soistes if I remember right). If I still don't win we will have a third ( thanks Simgull) where age and Night before alcohol intake are taken into account.

Good to meet up Dazzer and junior. It was an enjoyable run.

20:30 today. 32 seconds behind Dazzer. Never thought I would get to that time again. So now working for a sub 20 on June 13th or in the Autumn if fail.

On age grading I got 74.96% which just beats my 19.33 grading six years back and even my 17:45 grading many moons ago when 36. So I PBed my age grading. Hearty thanks to the fast disappearing pacer.

Must bear in mind that the wind won't always be as helpful and that one day it might be more helpful.
