At a stretch, I think it would be a shame. but lets face it, the plus side is that Ken Bates gets shat on. Meanwhile, Leeds would just reform and work their way through the divisions. C'est la vie.

This sort of thing needs to happen. Football clubs have been taking the piss with their financial affairs for far too long. I'll just breathe a sigh of relief that it's not MY club suffering this way.

Company Voluntary Arrangement. I believe its when a company puts itself in to liquidation rather than a creditor putting it in to it?

Not into liquidation at all.

That's the other option to agreeing a CVA with the creditors. You have to convince the creditors that there's more to be had from the CVA than if the company went into liquidation in order to get them to accept it.

Liquidation means the company would cease to exist. The CVA enables it to continue trading.

I meant "Administration" but I suspect I'm still wrong. :dunce:

Nobody (except the very bitter and twisted) wants to see Leeds Utd Football Club cease to exist. I certainly don't. However I DO want to see Mr Bates have his wings well and truly clipped. The ideal situation would be Bates bankrupt and in prison and Leeds starting with a clean slate but at a lower level as befits a newly-formed club. A bit like Aldershot, Newport County or Bradford (Park Avenue)

The statement on the Leeds site is simply Bates scaremongering and trying to ensure that his deal is given the green light. He is targeting support from the smaller creditors by emotionally blackmailing them into supporting his 8p in the £ proposal.

It's getting to a desperate state of affairs now for them and is a very very sad situation. I feel sorry for the fans who always are the ones who suffer..dont we know about that too well..

How in any shape or form is it GREAT NEWS as you put it?

The reals problem is with the FA/.FL ruling that all football related debtors are paid in full, whereaas everyone else is trated like usual unsecured creditors.

This is the inly industry that this happens and i think that HMRC are SO PISSED OFF with the Bates business that they will pit forward options to reform the whole system

I don't even think it would be 'a shame'. There is a WORLD of difference between a limited company 'going bust' and a football club 'ceasing to exist'. I think far more clubs should be forced to 'do an Aldershot'; i.e. re-form and work their way up through the leagues. Too many clubs just take the piss at the moment; Bradford City for example have been wound up more times than a cuckoo clock.

The 10 point penalty has been proved to be useless as the only clubs it has hit are ones like Wrexham (where I DO have sympathy for their financial plight). The more shameless ones just get away with it; they leave millions of pounds of debt, reform and blythely carry on as if nothing has happened.

Master Bates should be dragged round the country by his testicles on a Nationwide tour.

The tour should take in West London and Leeds amongst others and as many of those blasted speed humps the driver (of the truck his testes are attached to) can find.

Leeds should start in Conference North and be forced to endure all the bad referees we've suffered in the last ten years officiating their matches.

That is all.

Just to continue from my previous post - I think we should do it before they tighten the rules. We don't own the ground so we've nothing to lose. Lets go bust, wipe out our debt and, voila! 6 million (or 12 million depending on what figures you use) that doesn't have to be repaid!

Come on Brighton and Hove Albion (2007) Ltd!

Remember Middlesbrough being locked out of their ground, above their ears in debt, and set to close down? Then,BINGO!,the Riverside Stadium, the Premiership and the England manager.

Accrington had debts of three and threepence halfpenny, got axed days before they could pay,and were not allowed back in even though they could pay, then took 40 years to get back.

Of course Leeds should not go under, but they should not be allowed to goose people with this so called CVA. There were other offers for that club, and perhaps they should be revisited. But Leeds Utd v Farsley Celtic, and Swindon Town v Swindon Supermarine on the same day?

Extraordinary,n'est-ce pas?
