In a pile of football shirts
First album I bought was Masters of Reality by Black Sabbath, in about 1971.
I got it from the Virgin record shop by the clock tower on west street, quite an eye opener then for a 12 year old.

What ever happened to Virgin?

I think I queued up outside there on the morning of the day of the release of Scary Monsters & Super Creeps, and it has remained one of my favourite albums of all time ever since I first put it on the turntable.

Worthing
I think I queued up outside there on the morning of the day of the release of Scary Monsters & Super Creeps, and it has remained one of my favourite albums of all time ever since I first put it on the turntable.

It was very different to a Virgin Mega Superstore now . Very dark, a strange aroma, and people lying on the floor looking a bit dozy, (or so I thought then)
I did grow out of Sabbath and graduated to Bowie, Alice Cooper,Pink Floyd, and eventually, The Jam, and The Undertones

I love this era, delighted to enjoy the music. Why, even David Bowie (née Jones) is producing good stuff. Bet it won't last beyond the decade though.

This, more or less, with a few differences in the detail.

In other words, the 70s was very much a game of two halves for me musically.

My comment was tongue in cheek but there's no denying his music was big back then and he had some big come-back tours shortly before all the scandal broke.

In a way it's a shame that he was such a perv that the good memories of his music around those times is now 'lost' to us.
