I just used that example to prove my point...and stand by it. I never said that all programmers know ALL languages, but I think u backed my original point..that is... IT encompasses many things

Project mgmt side.

Oh and trust me on the hardware comment. I just manged the transfer of our staffs upgrade from NT - XP and in cases where compatibility was an issue, and specifically processing power identification, RAM ID etc people couldnt give me the simple specs of their machines....and these are the cream of Developers IN THE WORLD on obscene money

You managed it, you say? Strange that you did not have a full inventory of the specifics of the machines you were charged with upgrading. It would have been where I'd have started from.

Was given the specifics, but by the company we outsource from, I just verified the data....a sensible move...no?
