They are not saying stay seated at all times......they are saying in their eyes it is acceptable to stand at "periods of high excitement" but when the game is mind numbingly boring you must sit down.

As the periods of high excitement are few and far between, they recon we should remain seated for the majority of the game.

I sit on the end of a row and because peoples inability to stay in their seats until the whistle goes at the end of the game/half time or get to the ground and in their seats before the game kicks off, then I cannot see what is going on unless i stand...until Perry sorts this out, I fail to see what I can do

Would you like me to explain the first line and the meaning of the irony in the second line?

Standing does not have to be dangerous. As highlighted a large number of Germany clubs including I believe all the clubs redesigning their grounds for Euro 2006 have standing areas.

The old days in the North STand, the Kops were and could be dangerous.

But they were purely designed, poorly managed.

No one really wants that again.

Interestingly as part as Taylor report he recommended that with seating, the clubs should maintain prices at 'standing' prices.

His report is often quoted as the "Law", well it isn't. It was also written to meet an anti-football Governmet agenda.

Well that has never been enforced!!!

And what hapened at Old Trafford ........nothing.........the supporters still stand there, as they do at most Premiership grounds.

Standing in seating areas is not ideal!

So a gradual move back to designated standing areas is the only way forward.

A lot

In theory, that's great. But you read the comment above - people want standing to get a "mosh pit" type effect. There is no easy way to make that safe.

i understand those days cant come back (mosh pit style.......not entirely sure of the definition of that word:blush: ) but standing areas for a certian portion of fans is essentail for their involvement and participation throughout the game. We pay lots of money, travel f***ing miles all over the country and the best times are terraced grounds.
just my feelings maybe.;)

What I would like is to have rows where people could stand and a padded rest in front of you to lean on during the dull bits, i.e. 90% of the time.

Please don't take the piss, i was only after feedback.

If you walked into a pub and started talking randomly like you have on this thread you would either be ignored or have the piss taken out of you.

This thread is now oozing with feedback.

So that is it...I am a fair weather fan.

Since 1976, only missing on average about 10 games a season home and away, I am a fair weather fan

I am going now to the garden where I will sit in the compost heap and eat worms.

Seagull1971, I feel truly humbled. Thankyou for pointing out to me that I am a worthless piece of scum and do not deserve to be a fan.:(

Originally, that is what we were giving you. You seemed to take other people's replies out of context and went off on one. If you want feedback and a debate, read the replies fully and don't go off the deep end. DTG's second line was part tongue in cheek/part true. There are long periods of any game which don't require people to stand up. There was probably a sly dig at our current form but surely that is allowed?
