In case anyone needed a reminder that these ****s are still ****s…
According to pollsters they’re heading for a blinding local elections, largely at the expense of the Tories but Labour too. As the LibDems have often done, also Corbyn, they can promise the earth … reinstatement of WFA for all, £20,000 personal allowance, reducing energy bills by £500 per household, end NHS waiting lists.
Un-costed unicorns. Scooping the votes of millions of people who can’t be arsed to think deeply about it.
In a way, I hope they do win some local council seats, as people will realise they are totally unfit to deal with local matters. The potholes will still be there, bins may not get emptied, surgeries not held etc.According to pollsters they’re heading for a blinding local elections, largely at the expense of the Tories but Labour too. Will people realise enough to admit they’re wrong though? We saw with Brexit, and are seeing live with MAGA, how long that can take as people cycle through a process of confirmation bias and outright denial. In a way, I hope they do win some local council seats, as people will realise they are totally unfit to deal with local matters. Reform did have 10 councillors in Derby, but they all resigned their label of Reform (I can't say membership as they aren't members, but donors).

A group of councillors in Derbyshire say the party "has lost its sense of direction" under Farage's leadership.www.bbc.co.uk
A few may, and referring to Brexit, the tide has definitely turned. Will people realise enough to admit they’re wrong though? We saw with Brexit, and are seeing live with MAGA, how long that can take as people cycle through a process of confirmation bias and outright denial.
It has, but it took years to get there despite the outcomes being obvious even before the vote.A few may, and referring to Brexit, the tide has definitely turned.
I don't think that many who actually voted Brexit will ever admit, either publicy or to themselves, that it was a terrible idea and that they were duped. The main reason opinion polls now show the UK as pro-EU is because of the demographics of Brexit voters. Far more of them will have died since 2016 than remain voters, and the 5-6m people that have come of age in the same time will be overwhelmingly pro-EU.A few may, and referring to Brexit, the tide has definitely turned.
There’s also that percentage who recognise it hasn’t gone well, but swallow the Brexiteer line that it would have worked had we done it right/not let the left sabotage it.I don't think that many who actually voted Brexit will ever admit, either publicy or to themselves, that it was a terrible idea and that they were duped. The independent did a study on this about 7 years ago, in which it was estimated that the pro-Brexit majority was decreasing by 1350 per day based on demographics alone. This would've meant that the UK became pro-remain in Jan 2019, so by now the majority would be over 3m - about 10%.
We'll never know. There’s also that percentage who recognise it hasn’t gone well, but swallow the Brexiteer line that it would have worked had we done it right/not let the left sabotage it.
