I find it very difficult as well when the only people I personally know that support Reform and Farage are just so chronically hard of thinking. Conspiracy theory believers, Yaxley-Lennon followers on Twitter, Trump fans etc. You cannot reason with them.
I don't use Twitter but from what I've heard it's abit of a dump in that regard

I dont actively use Twitter either, though I do have an account for the purposes of you needing to log into one to read anything on it now since Musk. It is the absolute wild west of the internet now.

This was happening today at the same time Reform were promising to stamp on equality and fair representation.

Just two of the principles British men and women fought and died for 80 years ago.

I think you underestimate the incredible appeal of an alternative choice to the current status quo. For people who are struggling, many will feel that things can’t get worse from the Labour/Tory experience. There is also the added appeal of externalising any problem to migrants who serve as a voiceless and powerless scapegoat. Brexit was the same.

As a Labour voter, what I’m incredibly disappointed with so far is the drift in their values. Winter fuel allowance, benefit cuts and the rhetoric surrounding them - it’s hard to see how they’re looking out for the most vulnerable in society. On the other end, other than private school fee tax, how are Labour closing the wealth divide? Bringing back the 50% tax bracket for highest earners would be a start.

Reform will continue to thrive whilst they push a rhetoric that resonates and living conditions for the poorest in society continue to deteriorate.
Reform are like an alternative choice for people who don't really want one.

'i don't want to vote for the centre right or further right established party'

'so you gonna vote centre left or left'

'no I am want and alternative so I am going to vote further right. That way I get even tougher policies that f*** me up'.

If people want an alternative to the shit that has caused them to have less and less, wouldn't it be great if they had the balls to actually vote for it.

I often see (on various online forums) the claim being made that many people vote for Reform/Farage because they don't like being told they're thick. That insulting them drives them into the arms of the Hard Right.

"Some anonymous online liberal insulted my intelligence, so I'm going to vote for Reform." Kinda proves the point about the stupidity of some of them.

We are not supposed to question their intelligence or upset them - poor likkle snowflakes - but 'Remoaners', liberals and Lefties have suffered a decade of far worse abuse and sometimes physical threats ("we know where you live/work.") from Brexiters and Farage fan-boys. I certainly have, but will never allow these ignorant ****s to intimidate or bully me into silence.

As always, the Hard Right love dishing out the abuse and insults, but can't take it back. They demand respect for their views and opinions, but don't show any towards those who disagree with them.
I can see the new Reform tag line now.

I don't think they're anti-green energy as such, but what they are opposed to is the Miliband approach where we can claim to go green by cutting thousands, tens of thousands of jobs from oil, gas, steel industries while importing the oil, gas, steel that we still need from abroad. Miliband's priority isn't saving the planet, it's making the UK's figures look good.

If we are relying on wind and sun for most of our power, we need backup for when the wind doesn't blow and the sun doesn't shine. If it's not to be gas or oil, then what's the short or medium term option apart from nuclear?
Large scale nukes 10 years to plan, 10 years to build, 10 years to recoup the carbon, toxic legacy, most expensive way to add grid capacity

SMRs, unproven, even more costly than large scale, security risk

We need more battery storage, home micro storage is only just beginning. Bigger inter connectors, also there’s X-links. Tidal still has huge potential, Tories scrapped that.

Miliband is doing a great job, no going back now

Sadly there’s a group of people in the UK that just can’t resist punching themselves in the face at the ballot box every few years.

They’re easy fonder, the far right are laughing at them. Suckers - we’ll screw em….

A large group if you ask me.

The Tories came in and said 'look people, our mates really f***ed the economy so you lot are going to get given f*** all for a bit. We'll have to lower funding to services and wages are going to take a hit (well your wages anyway). We'll still pay their bonuses and bail them out but you lot are going to have to put up with some austerity, is that okay?'

The electorate replies with a firm 'f*** yes please, we'll have that and continue to vote for you for 14 years'.

Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
Let’s be honest, they just mean “no Pride flags”, they just realise they can’t say that quiet bit out loud
Nor Ukraine flags which have been flown previously. Reform wouldn’t want to upset Farage’s paymaster.
