Scored 2 in a half last week including one from halfway line!

In temperatures of over 30 degrees Celsius in Tyrol, Gonzalez made it 2-0 in the 32nd minute following a pass from Philipp Klement before scoring an eye-catching second just seven minutes later. The Argentinian won the ball off Hamburg’s Klaus Gjasula in his own half, spotted goalkeeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes a long way off his line and found the net from close to the halfway line. HSV fought back through goals from Simon Terodde (43’) and Manuel Wintzheimer (66’), but couldn’t deny VfB a deserved victory.

All the reports suggest Leeds were in for him so can’t imagine he’d come to us over them. Maybe visiting Alexis then on his way to Yorkshire in the morning.

Quote from their sporting director earlier this week:

"We had a lot of hot rumours at the beginning, (with Leeds it was) even very concrete.

"There were serious conversations and rapprochements but it never presented itself in such a way that it would have been interesting for Nico or for us.

"Let's be honest: If someone comes on October 1 and puts a fabulous sum of 30 million euros plus on the table for Nico or another player - who should refuse something like that? I don't see it coming either."

Did you add the Leeds bit in or did they confirm the ‘concrete interest’ themselves...?

That’s all very true but does make me wonder if he’s not over for a visit or Mac has been very , very silly. Footballers and social media  - in-fact, most people in social media

Probably over to beg Bielsa for a job and is visiting Mac whilst he is here.:lolol:

Seriously though, as players are trying to isolate, you would think this means they plan on being in each others bubble.

Played yesterday, got a couple of days off, gone to visit his mate. Cant believe that there is anything in this, there's no way Alexis would have been so naive to post something that gave the game away.

Unless...

30 million euros = about 26 million pounds.

So if this does happen, this would be a club record for us.

Thing is, we were linked in the press a few weeks back so although you have a good point, 2+2 may = 4 here. Or 5, potentially.

Would be odd, in current circumstances, that he’d just be popping over to visit his mate...

He did play for Stuttgart on Saturday though. So could very well just be visiting and then going back over as they have another game this Saturday. Germany also isn't on the UK quarantine list.

I remember the link, thought that had been pretty emphatically shut down. But we do our business quietly so maybe, just maybe there is something there. Statement of intent if we bring him in and Nunez (or a similar CF)

I think the UK is currently classed as a risk zone in Germany meaning he'd have to quarantine until he can get a negative test result for Corona. Can't imagine his club would be best pleased with him jetting off if he's going to have to isolate on his return

"Quarantine regulations and COVID‑19 tests

In Germany, the individual Länder are responsible for quarantine regulations. After coordination with the Länder and the Federal Government, the BMI has issued a specimen agreement, the regulations of which the Länder have largely incorporated into their own agreements.

Upon entry into Germany following a stay in a risk area within the last 14 days

you must proceed directly to your destination following entry into Germany,
self-isolate at home until a negative test result is available (for more details on this see Exception: proven negative test result), provide proof of the negative test result to the competent authorities, as a rule the health office, upon request, and
email or phone your competent authority, as a rule the health office in your place of residence/accommodation. If travellers have filled in and submitted a disembarkation card on the plane, ship, bus or train, they do not have to register again after entry.

When entering from a risk area, it is mandatory to absolve a corona test."

However I might be reading that wrong and it's on Gibralter which is a risk zone.

As much as I like this rumour can't see us spending big on a left sided winger while we still have trossard.

Both this guy and the Darwin Nunez are able to play as wingers (the common definition, not the NSC one), I'm guessing that might be one of the requirements: they need to function in a 3-4-3 or 4-3-3, not just as one of two central strikers.

Does this mean that Tony knows that his financial backing during this window, whilst very expensive right now, would allow us to move ahead of some of our more hamstrung competitors?

We could/will end up with players worth a fortune when things get back to normal. We know Tony is an exceptionally shrewd businessman and player of the markets.

Our extra buying power in these conditions could bridge the gap very rapidly to that top ten goal.

Worth remembering that we do get £200mil or whatever per year from TV so there will be some transfer kitty. Also we’re £20mil+ in profit so far this window. This guy, a striker and a left back / LWB and we’ll be good. I think we’ll do it, but may sell a couple more fringe players too.

Haven’t seen numbers for years. This is the first season we’ve started to sell players. It makes a huge difference. If we buy these two, we’ll be very strong.

Only going by that youtube video, he looks very fast and very tricky but his final ball/finishing wasn't great. The stats posted earlier suggest otherwise though. Looked like he can play on either wing which would be useful with Trossard able to do likewise. Cant see us spending big money on Gonzales and a striker though. If this doesn't mean Ali J is off maybe Potter thinks he can do the job up top.
