I have it on very good authority that when he went to talk to Mna U about signing he wanted £xk (wont give the figures) per week, £xk per goal, £xk per point that Man U got when he played and to take all free kicks and penalties in and around the box from which he stood a chance of scoring. Fergie told him they had a penalty taker and free kick specialist and wouldnt pay per goal or per point because it was a team game and didnt matter to him who scored as long as somebody did. He turned down the chance to join them and went to Blackburn instead.

The main thing that grates with me is media commentators who insist it would be a "tragedy" if Newcastle went down, and that nobody in their right minds wants to see that.

(1) Tragedy is utterly the wrong word to describe a relegation anyway, completely inappropriate in the wider scheme of things

(2) In any case, there are THOUSANDS of fans in the Premier League, Championship and beyond, who would absolutely wet themselves laughing if Newcastle went down.

Why are they considered so special? Nobody bangs on about a potential tragedy if Sunderland are relegated. Nor would they, I suspect, if it was Man United.

Nope, I hope they crash and burn, and then see who Shearer blames. It won't be himself, that's for sure.

Watched them recently? Mate they're shit!

Yeah, but you know that arse Shearer will weasel out of it somehow.

Mind you, a few weeks back I seem to recall predicting Cardiff might be a decent bet for automatic promotion, such was the run they were on, so what do I know?

:lolol:

I pray Hull can get 3 points from somewhere because that will probably be enough to send the Geordies DOWN. Not sure where its coming from though and I think the winners of the NU v Boro game will stay up, unfortunately.

Well said.

They'll have to do something on the scale of the great Brighton and Hove Albion not to be playing in the Championship next season.

I can see Hull getting a win at home to Stoke, which , imo, would keep them safe.

That game has 0-0 written all over it.

I see Shearer as being the new Harry Redknapp (albeit one who doesn't look like somebody's set about his face with the back of a shovel).

When he wins, he'll grab all the credit. When he loses, he'll always find someone else to blame. All the signs are there already, coupled with 50,000 gullible Geordie fools who want so badly to believe in him they'll forgive him anything, even relegation.

Would be pleased if Newcastle go down. What gets me are the hordes who turn up at St James' Park on a Tuesday afternoon (or whatever) whenever the latest 'messiah' appears in a back and white striped shirt.

Doesn't anyone do any work up there?!

Absolutely, remember when we went there in 1992 I think it was, there was only about 10,000 of them, not that big a club. Geordie wasters!!!!

I think they're a decent sized club, little question of that in my mind, but their fans are no more or less loyal than any others.

There may be more of them than plenty of clubs, but you can't tell me some lardy arsed Geordie who turns up on a Wednesday afternoon to watch Shearer dropping his laundry off at the club is any more loyal than the Exeter City fan who drives up to Darlington on a Tuesday night to watch a game, for example?

Every club has their fanatics, it's just that some have more than others.

You miserable idiot, why would you want to see a player who was absoloutly fantastic for England, in fact an ispiration, fall flat on his face?

I wish everyone in the world success. People like you just dont know what your talking about a lot of the time.

He has no experience of real life.

Having said that I would like them to go down, just so they can bloody win something and stop their bloody whinging.

And if they do go down, the Championship has never seen a full house of 50,000 supporters before.
