f*** it - I'll come up with some rules.
But one thing will remain constant - if people try and test where the line is, and they trip over that line as a result, they may not be able to play with the ball for a while or ever again.
I think most have enough common sense, Safeway excluded, obviously...

If it's not advisable to bounce old threads then why aren't they being deleted beyond say page three? As you said on Brightonfans, the vast majority of people don't go past page one.
Some older threads are fun to read again (GG rants etc) so it would be a shame to delete them but I think this has all been a storm in a teacup caused by boredom...

We could periodically prune but I don't see what the point is. Some threads do become relevant again and can be 'retrieved' and brought back to life. This is fine if you are adding some substance to the thread but to purely bounce a thread with a smilie is adding nothing at all. To do this 30 or 40 times over completely ruins the flow of the board.

Bozza's right, bouncing a thread to wreck the flow of the board is moronic, it just pisses on the real postings that people have made and that won't get read as a result. I've hardened my view on this, forced transportation back to NSP is too good for 'em I say.
But bouncing a thread to make an observation or point WITHIN THE THREAD is another thing entirely and can be quite enlightening and/or amusing *he added rather self-servingly*.

It is interesting and relevant to look back over the season to see who thought Steve Coppout was the best thing since sliced bread and Mark McGhee absolute rubbish etc (with the benefit of hindsight of course)
As for relieving boredom at work then come up with some good quizes (sp) or Family fortunes or something?

We need to archive all the old threads as often there is stuff that DOES become relevant. Peoples thoughts or predictions at a particular time are always interesting (FG's Magoo Out for example after he had been at the club one week or me calling for the arrival of Iwelumo three months before he arrived).
I also had the pleasure of trying a "cheese topped bap" that reminded me of an old thread, which I posted on after I had sampled one.
Don't delete them!
