New Manager from Independent

I've hade a quick look through the posts and can't see this mentioned. According to the Independent, Stuart Gray is favourite to get the job with Merson named as the other main candidate.

Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere but I don't have enough time to scour all of the threads.

Pls no. I'd prefer Lady Jane Gray, David Gray or Dorian Gray.

Difficult to judge him on his time at Southampton, didn't have too much of a chance. He could be one of those young managers in the Adams mould, DK will need to seek advice from those who have worked with him. I'm sure he has.

From the Independant website:

"Gray, who briefly managed Southampton two years ago and also has coaching experience with Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest, has already been in contact with the Brighton chairman, Dick Knight. The Seagulls would also like to speak to Paul Merson, but Gray may be a cheaper option than the Walsall midfielder."

I dont know much about Gray, but may have a few contacts around the place. Certainly wouldnt rock my world as much as Kinnear....

Let's not slaughter the man before he's even announced as a candidate by the club, shall we? IF he gets the job (assuming the Indy's even correct) we have to give him our backing. Have a pop when something goes tits up, not before.

Hear Hear!

I doubt Coppell was lauded as the next best thing when he was appointed (although I must confess to being absent from NSC at the time...)

The likes of Stuart Gray and Graham Rix have made their names as coaches, and have been pretty unsuccessful as managers.

Doesn't take a great mind to suggest we should not employ them as manager, and we don't need a new coach.

We want the best man for the job, not the cheaper option.

In my defence, I was left unsupervised.

Oh he was, he was. Some of us *holds hand up* wanted him in the summer before Hinshlewood was appointed and banged on at length what a good appointment he would be as he was a man of loyalty and integrityl. Some of us are feeling a bit stupid today.
