Not sure about that. Certainly more than one platform in Brighton 'goes in that direction' as I've caught the train to London Road from several different ones. And the London Road viaduct is a new one, what's the problem with that?

The biggest problem appears to be the signalling. British Bulldog and Ernest are the two who know most about this.

Yes they are. I seem to remember one of them saying that the problem is capacity on the line. You can only have one train in each signalling 'block' (I think its called) and Falmer is part of a block which stretches far enough towards Brighton and Lewes to mean that you can't put extra trains on much below the current level of service. The solution would be to divide the line between Brighton and Lewes up into more of these 'blocks' which means putting more signals in. If you ask me they are little more than scaffolding poles with coloured lights on the end so it shouldn't cost much; but I am sure British Bulldog said on here the last time I said this that its more complicated than that!

So how many other grtounds have a station virtually on it's concourse?

Lansdowne Road ("Aviva Stadium") in Dublin.

There's also railway track and space for platforms but never used due to being on a heavily unserved line under Croke Park.

Seems to be a thing for building three sided stadiums on railway lines here....
