Mitoma starting would have been the case sooner or later regardless (just a matter on when Welbeck would miss a game).

I don't think Maupay is technically speaking a good enough footballer for RDZ (or GP). He has built his career around being the most hard working striker in the business, and that is great when you're a bottom half team trying to get enough points to stay up, but in a team that is actually evolving... he'd be left behind.

If he wants to stick around in the PL as a decent striker, he can probably do that but he'll never score 20 goals in that case. If he moves somewhere like Italy he could probably have more success.

Well, I can tell you where Maupay won't be getting 20 goals a season, and that's in the PL. I doubt he'd manage it if he started every game for City. That's not to say I don't like him, or value his contribution. Merely that he's not a great goalscorer, and you have to be that to score 20 goals in a PL season.

My mate is an Everton fan and honestly can’t believe he is a premier league footballer. Let alone one they paid £15m for. He is a STH at Goodison and sees every game home and away. Reckons he is just about the worst striker in their Premier League history. He reckons the (infamously dogshit) Joe Max Moore or Cenk Tosun were twice the player he is.

Sounds a bit hyperbolic, but in truth he has been absolutely dreadful in the minutes I’ve watched him play for Everton. He just looks so painfully slow suddenly.

completely the wrong kind of player for Everton. they need someone to make it stick on the few occasions they do get the ball upfield. that isn't neal. they also don't create loads, so need someone who is clinical, again that's not him. we all know what his qualities are,but he's not suited to playing in such a terrible team.

This is classic Neal. Give him space and time to think about things and he falls to pieces. Give him an instinctive moment and he'll bury it.

Maybe we're just good at finding footballers who can fit into a team pattern and understand their job?
