Yes so in the context "Everton bought on Neal Maupay as a sub when chasing the game, we bought on Danny Welbeck, how times change", "bought" doesn't work at all while "brought" is your daddy.
Yes i read a earlier post after which gave me the full context if you see what i mean, So i deleted feeling a bit of a pratt.

Thanks for bringing that up.

Or 'binging' it up, as some* might say.

*I fort the lore but the lore one.

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
Crumbs, how many on here know who Willy Pope was? But yes, there are not many Willys in today's learning establishments? Sorry, maybe I should rephrase ....
You had to have gone to a certain school at a particular time.

I see your Willy Pope and I raise you Ned Land.

Would still rather have him at the Amex than Goodison.
Doing what? Sitting on the bench and being ineffectual when he came on? All the time getting more and more annoyed at not playing before, ultimately, causing the club to miss out on money when he moved on for nothing at the end of his contract?

I loved NM when he was here, but I'd call his transfer a shrewd gamble - if there even is such a thing - by TB and co that looks like it has paid off 👍🏼

Willy Pope one of the greats at HCGS. Ken Garland another. Ned Land never taught me but cannot recall the name of the RI teacher with a vicious temper.
Also taught physics? Braund? Or Day (although I think he taught Latin, and liked a good old stare during changing for gym )? There was also one who tought RI and English and threw chalk. He was mostly a prat. Hill?

All a long time ago now.

There was a massive long thread on HGSB on the 'old' NSC, posted around 2000.

Think Maupay was ok for Brighton, not outstanding but a lot better than say Locadia. Needed to play in a two and no one wants to do that now. He won games for us and he should be remembered for that.....
He is currently our joint leading goal scorer in the EPL. He scored a good number of technically brilliant goals and missed a good number of easy chances.

Better than ok but not a true fit for the style of Potter or De Zerbi.

Perhaps not quite an EPL legend for us (think Dunk, Groß, Murray, Bissouma etc) but in the tier below.

Bissouma as a PL legend? I don't think many would have him in that category.

Hill?
We put a rubbish bin full of piss on top of the part open door so that when he opened it he got showered…… happy days. Worth a caning of Tabby, the deputy head

Theres that nagging feeling, could he have come on against Spurs or Forest and made a difference? 🤷‍♂️

It’ll pass, pubs open in just over an hour. 😂

I’ll be honest,I was worried when he left and especially when we didn’t replace him. I’ll have some gravy on my humble pie, please.

FWIW. I always remembered brought and bought as bring and buy, knowing that the ‘r’ is the key.

Hill. He had a Hitler moustache and we used to call him Hilter. Poor fellow also had to teach Sex Education.

It was a decision based in part on Potter not wanting to start him any more. But a couple of games later he's gone and RDZ might have used him differently, could even have been the spark that Maupay needed. We'll never know but there's always that 'what if' when a player is transferred right before a manager change
