So our big phone calls will be made by a semi-retired DK bluetoothed up as he tends his roses, waiting for the go ahead from some gambler gone walkabout in the bush?...

Having no inside knowledge of the Murray household couldn't tell you what discussions went on before the move. Don't think she was pregnant at the time (not sure how old the baby is) but maybe that made a huge difference.
We will get our money back if anything more. He is not a crock, one hernia does not mean his career is over. If he hasn't looked bothered or didn't want to be here as some say would hate to think how good he will be when he is happy and playing somewhere he wants to be. I don't remember Thomson getting this much stick when he wanted to go back to Scotland and he lasted less time than Murray

Thomson wasn't subject to the considerable financial outlay the club has stumped up on for that 3.5 year deal Murray signed. And Thomson was only here for less time than Murray because Murrays first transfer request was rejected - otherwise if it was up to him, Murray would have graced us with his presence for what, all of 5 months.

Regardless of Murrays domestic situation, we signed him in good faith, he's number 1 first choice striker here, we got him out of the 4th division, and he is a crucial element of the team who was expected to be a big part in the new managers plans. For him to decide he wants offski less than halfway through his contract because him and his bird are a bit homesick is, I think, unprofessional and unreasonable behaviour. Referring back to the title of this thread - yes, I think he DOES owe us, being as he's been picking up his (probably not inconsiderable) salary whilst being crocked for long periods.

That said, if someone offers the £300k for him then we'll HAVE to sell, its a no-brainer as theres no point keeping hold of an unhappy player. Stuffed us right up though, hasn't he.

:lolol:
What a marvellous image that conjours up.

The point I'm making, is that DK is still "on hand" at the Albion for his vast network of contacts he'll have built up over the last 12 years. Looking in from the outside at least, Blooms takeover didn't come across as being a hostile one, and ultimately both men want the same thing - for the Albion to be successful - and I'm sure they'll work together to achieve that.

Myths regarding Glenn Murray:

1. He's offside all the time. - No he isn't. Forster is offside more often. This was proven in a match programme.

2. He's very injury prone. - No he isn't. He's had a grand total of TWO injuries, ONE of which was entirely Micky Adams' fault. Had a clean injury record prior to joining us, as far as anyone knows. If anything it just looks bad on our medical team, which we know Russell wasn't happy with the state of when he joined.

3. He doesn't put any effort in. - If you think this you don't know anything about football. Fantastic return and would always make something happen with the ball at his feet. His languid style very much reminds me of a certain Mr. Zamora.

Totally agree. I don't understand the mindset of people who think that players should have loyalty to their respective clubs. They're just doing a job at the end of the day. I doubt most of the people here have only had one job in their lives.

As others have already pointed out: it's a shame Clan Murray didn't think long & hard about the consequences of the move down here prior to signing a contract to play for Brighton & Hove Albion. Add to that the amount of time he's been on the treatment table & the effort the club have make him feel valued & get him fit, I think we are - rightly or wrongly - justified in thinking that he should do his best to give something back before he buggers off. Maybe they (GM & his partner) should just feel grateful that he didn't accept an offer to go & play in The J League?!!

Ho-hum. I guess we'll just have to beg to differ on this matter.
