Murray in the Argus

Behave Murray is miles away from Zamora.

If the thread "Poyet to make Seagulls fly" stats are correct for Murray 25 goals in 59 games then he cannot be far off BZ's scoring record and all of these goals have come in League 1 in a mostly poor team. BZ scored most of his goals in League 2 in a very good team.

So as far as goal scoring for the Albion in League 1 is concerned I'd say Murray is definitely comparable to BZ

BZ scored 28 goals in 41 games in League 1, so as much as I like GM his scoring record is not as good, however he has played as part of a 4-4-2 formation and has created a large number of goals, whereas BZ was a (fantastic) lone striker for the Albion in League 1 (with the occasional help from Lee Steele!)

I was responding to US' miles away comment and not suggesting Murray's record was as good, just that it was comparable. We have to remember that Murray has. I think, played more games half fit than BZ did and has been in a struggling team rather than a Championship winning one when comparing them. I must say I didn't realise BZs goalscoring record in League One was that good though.

Must confess I didn't realise it was that good myself, or that he played so many games for us (136) and scored 83 goals in the process.

For all those who accuse Dick Knight of cashing in on the club, we turned down two £3m bids for BZ the year we were promoted to the Championship, and BZ still scored 14 goals in 35 games in a relegated side, even though for part of the season he was clearly wanting to go. There were stories that BZ had asked for a transfer the year we went down.

Perhaps GM has been watching Beckford for Leeds, who also wants away, and realises that if he scores plenty for them he will maximise his earnings from his next contract, whoever it is with.

Have the club confirmed the position with his transfer request, I know it has been rejected, but has it also been withdrawn? I remember Danny Cullip submitting one and then withdrawing it later when he was at the club.

How long has Murray got left on his contract - another 18 months or so I'm guessing?

Which would suggest that he will definitely be here to the end of the season but we will need to be offloading in Jan 2011 transfer window or he'll end up going for nothing!!
