The thread says over rated. Which means it needs to be rated in the first place.

I always assumed any and all sales for Phill Collins were the result of mass hypnosis, a desire for fitting in and/or chemtrails/vaccines.

That's where you are wrong anyone who admitted to liking Genesis/Phil Collins openly were derided. I know I am one of them, in fact I was so surprised when I went to the Genesis concert in 1992 and I was not the only one there, as I was told so many times how shit they were.

The Who, Live at (Dirty) Leeds.

From a band that I do rate (highly) and enjoyed seeing live back in 1979. I bought Live at Leeds as it was described as the best live LP ever. It's not. Side one is fine but too short and side two only has two songs, including 15 minutes of My Generation (mixed with numerous other tracks).

My son pinched it off me, played it and then returned it. He didn't do that with any of the other LPs he pinched off me!

The CD version includes the whole gig except for Tommy (it just has Amazing Journey/Sparks. I'd say that in that form it probably is the best live rock album of it's time, except I prefer the Isle of Wight concert from a few months later.

The 2 disk version includes Tommy in its entirety, but somebody made the bewildering decision to stick the stage chatter on the beginning of the tracks instead of the end, so you can't skip it.

Re. the length, apparently the original was just under 38 minutes long, which is on the short side but not unreasonable for a loud rock album (I know Townshend thought 18minutes was the limit per side before the sound quality starts to suffer). Deep Purple's Made in Japan is almost exactly the same length per side, for comparison.

I have 5 of these albums and love all five.

Well, clearly it's all opinions. That's the fun of it.

Plenty of people like weird prog or jazz or classical stuff and pop fluff. I think both Red by King Crimson and Take That's version of Relight My Fire are great.

Some Radiohead is basically tolerable. I think OK Computer is a better album if you start it from Electioneering (basically, if it were an LP flip the sides around and play side 2 first). Still overrated even if it is pretty good.

This has basically descended into lists of bands people don't like. Why would you listen to albums by bands you don't like? I love music, but there are many 'classic' albums I have never heard - including Pet Sounds, Astral Weeks, Born in the USA, Blue, and also no albums by Dylan, none by Queen, none by the Rolling Stones (except 'Tattoo You') etc etc.

That's basically because I simply don't 'get' those artists. Also, with a few exceptions, I'm not really a fan of listening to 'old' music.

Post-Barrett Pink Floyd, though, I have listened to a few- and yeah DSOM must be up there as most over-rated, together with The Wall.

A couple of people have mentioned Astral Weeks, which has prompted me to drag it out and listen to it again. I'm not the biggest fan of Van the Man but this album is truly a masterpiece.
