GT49er out for a drive on the Downs in his car where he can’t see the clock
My first car was a 2CV. It didn't have a clock. It did have a starting handle, though.
The amount I see just walking about, I’d say 100,000 times more get away with it.50 a day are caught. I would estimate at least 1000 times more get away with it.
This isn't a "drivers v cyclists" thing. It's a "taking reckless gambles with other people's lives" thing
What are you a knitting circle?I go out on my push bike every day with 15 mates and we all keep in touch on whereabouts by texting eachother whilst riding on the road. I have 5 friends who do exactly the same with 15 of their friends. So that’s 6 x 16 = 96 cyclists that I just know of daily doing this. Just saying…
My 10 year old Ford has a Bluetooth feature that enables voice dialling and accessing my mobiles phone book. Can't see why a similar arrangement can't be used for the Police? Perhaps one of the Sussex Constabulary members this board could enlighten us?Just holding it in your hand is sufficient to get 6 points now. It's irrelevant whether you were taking a call, sending a text....or checking the time.
Quite right too. But I do find it odd that on tv shows like Traffic Cops, you often see coppers taking one hand off the wheel to send a message on their PR. And that's when they are driving at over a ton! Surely the technology exists so they don't have to use PRs in this way.
I've liked the look of that Maserati in particular for years so it's more a reflection on me at age 12 or so.There's no easy way to say this but everyone I know who has bought a Maserati have been complete ****s. Sporty Civics are great fun particularly If you're young and all the young lads I have known who've had them have been great lads![]()
Ah yes, the "i was stationary at the lights argument" but when those lights turned green would they have hung up right away? I think not.If the vehicle is stationary, I can’t see what the harm is.

Regarding using the phone while driving my mind always goes back to the lorry driver who killed a couple of his fellow humans because he was talking to his wife about what he was going to have for dinner that night. Says it all really.
If i had my way all traffic police would be issued with a strong bag to put the phones of those caught in AND a club hammer to then smash them into pieces and tip the remains back in the car with a cheery " now try using it you selfish p***k"!!
Probably not a vote winner though.
Isn’t that what a Type R is built for?I've liked the look of that Maserati in particular for years so it's more a reflection on me at age 12 or so.
The Civics seem like great fun as long as you don't rag them like a bellend.
"Hey Siri, what's the time?"Bit annoying in one way - in times gone by, if I needed to check the time, I'd glance at my watch. No problem, no risk, no crime. Now, like many people my 'watch' is now my mobile phone - I don't know whether just checking the time would be a legal defence - I wouldn't be doing anything on my phone, just looking at the time on the screen.
Oh well - I'm not going to be the one to test it!
Say what you like but they do have the coolest car clocksThere's no easy way to say this but everyone I know who has bought a Maserati have been complete ****s. Sporty Civics are great fun particularly If you're young and all the young lads I have known who've had them have been great lads![]()
