It was more a message to their fans. Picture this, your on a small income and fancy taking your son to the game at a reduced cost of £15 + 5 = £20. The opposing teams bosses come along and insist that prices go up to normal amounts costing you a potential £35 - 40 just coz they had plans on taking advantage on the size of SMS and the Saints fan base. Wouldnt you be pissed off. Like we have a duty to them to put their gate receipts before increasing the accessibility to genuine fans

Havent agreed with our chairman on many things but fair play for highlighting this blatant example where cash is being considered before the better of the game.

Have to agree with this. Didn't we have concerns last season that Wycombe would ask for ticket prices to be normal matchday price instead of reduced. The issue should have been dealt with privately though & for that I find SFC guilty of Crassness & sentenced to another season in League 1.

Well what Southampton's saids true though isn't it? Shrewsbury are trying to line their pockets. This would of been a ridiculous thing to do, however Shrewsbury asked for it by going to the FA to complain or whatever. They had absolutely no right to do that. For that reason I'm with Southampton.

I don't get what some people's vendetta against Southampton is anyway......

Exactly.

Normally I would agree with a lot of you. Our chairman is often an arogant tw*t to say the least and this has been recognised by most of our fans.

However, to use your example of Woking, how would you feel if you fancied popping along to the game with your wife or child, for a rare outing taking advantage of the cheap pricing, as usually you dont fancy spending £35 for an outing at the Withdean. Then along came Woking and grizzled to the FA trying to get the prices bumped up therefore pricing you out of the game.

Yes the prices should be agreed by both clubs in the cup, bet lets not forget Shrewsbury want to take advantage of our bigger ground and our bigger fanbase. It's the cheek of it that p*sses me off which is why I fully endorse the slightly spitefulness of the statement.

And what makes me laugh here is that by reducing the pricing, the revenue could potentially be better due to better numbers. Not to mention a better atmosphere at the game.

I agree. I wouldn't want to pay more than £10 to watch Southampton either:thumbsup:

Why ? What has it achieved apart from making Southampton Football Club look like the nasty club run by twats that it is ?

It's hardly rocked the football world has it?? Dont care what it has or hasnt achieved. ST were out of order and Saints wanted to send a message to their fans that they fought their corner to keep the price down.

I agree with Southamptons stance to reduce the ticket prices. But to publically crow about it in an official statement on their website under the headline "Taming of the Shrews" is snide, unnecessary and uncalled for.

It just further illustrates Southamptons complete lack of class (if that were ever even necessary). They truley do operate under the delusion that they are a Premier League club "on loan" to the third division.

I see that attitude from Brighton fans a lot on this board also. Thinking that with TB, Falmer etc it's only a matter of time till your back in the big time. Clubs on the up tend to have that attitude.

Cobblers.

We're loving it this season, but I don't see any Premiership assumptions here.
