Sky transfer centre reporting;

MONTOYA CLOSE TO BRIGHTON EXIT

Right-back Martin Montoya is close to completing a move back to Spain from Brighton.

Sky Sports News reported on Thursday that Real Betis were in talks with Brighton about a potential deal. The move could be finalised within 48 hours.

Montoya was signed from Valencia in 2018 and has one year left on a four-year deal.

Their Maths isn't great is it.

Yeh. Montoya never let us down, always put in a shift and provided some moments of quality.

Good luck on the next chapter Martin

Good luck Martin, always gave 100% and he did have some very good games too

Did a decent enough job for us and a true pro but this is best for all. We look so much better overall with Lamptey in the side and the person who has benefited most is Webster.

Good luck to Montoya - going to a good club too.

I think his spell with us is fairly typical of his whole career. The occasional good game, obviously a good footballer but so often below par and not really reliable for every game, week in and week out.

If we've got back the cash we invested we've done very well considering how the squad has developed.

A good but not a great. However, Bruno was an impossible act to follow and we now have two very different players competing for that position.

As others have said put in the shifts. Perhaps a little too easily caught on the front foot. But goes with thanks and best wishes.

This sounds like I'm damning him with faint praise but that's not the intention - I just feel he was mostly a solid 7.

A good player who played over 50 times for us in the last 2 seasons, so has contributed significantly to us remaining in the Premier and looks like we got our money back. Will always suffer from being the player between Bruno and Lamptey

Thanks and Good luck :thumbsup:

Yeah fond farewell to Martin.

To be sandwiched between the genius of Bruno, the insanity of Schelotto and the sheer excitement of a prospect like Lamptey he was always going to struggle to stand out, yet as has been said did certainly always put a shift in.
