I wonder of the fee. I'm guessing it won't be more than £5-7m ?

Naylor confirmed going through in next 24 hours

No ill will at all to Montoya, but it's best that this does go through. It's not healthy to have loads of senior players nowhere near the starting XI.

A few quid in our pocket, either for transfers, or to offset some of the losses we're going to incur by playing in empty stadia. Tony knows best on how to use his millions

"According to Sky Sports , the Andalusian team is already in talks with Brighton , a club with which they still have two years left on their contract. Brighton wants to recover part of the 7 million euros it paid in his day for Martín Montoya and Betis does not plan to pay much more for the Catalan. "

Sky transfer centre reporting;

MONTOYA CLOSE TO BRIGHTON EXIT

Right-back Martin Montoya is close to completing a move back to Spain from Brighton.

Sky Sports News reported on Thursday that Real Betis were in talks with Brighton about a potential deal. The move could be finalised within 48 hours.

Montoya was signed from Valencia in 2018 and has one year left on a four-year deal.

I think 8-10... he is an experienced player.

These aren't normal times. As has been pointed out, he's a high earner and approaching the end of his contract. £4 to 5m I reckon

Wow, £3m is a really good deal for whoever gets him.

Quite surprised no PL clubs came in at that price. He’s an honest, useful player.

Only leaving really because we’ve found a wonder kid in Lamptey.

Its probably what you can get for a 29 yo right back with high wage and likely no resale value and who in all of his previous clubs was deemed not good enough.

We have already "amortised away" half the fee over the last 2 years, so £3.6million is I think the break even figure going into future accounts ???

I reckon we have settled on a minimum €4 million.

I think moving on the senior fringe players (which he has become) is an essential part of reducing the wage bill. All clubs are trying to do it, but it's not easy. This would be a great deal for him and the club, whatever the fee i would think.
