Brilliant pedantry.

Where I say 'No one' I refer to the general userbase - the 16,850 or so non-moderators. Amongst that population no one will have any visibility of infractions given to anyone else.

Of course, moderators have sight of infractions given - it would be ludicrous if they didn't.

I'm referring, though, to the announcement by a mod to the 16,850 database that a poster has received an infraction. Obviously contrary to "No one knows what warnings or infractions are handed out to anyone"

Whatever. Despite what is being alluded to, my moderating decisions are never personal.

I think you could have dealt with hove born and bred via PM myself. It did come across as a bit personal. I support the job the Mods do in general including yourself, but i think you'd do yourself a favour if you admitted that the way you handled that one wasn't the best.

I moderate with a very light touch, and generally with a sense of humour. It is certainly possible that some read my stance on that thread in a spirit different to that it was intended. It was supposed to be a light hearted way to point out to the poster, that his attention seeking had become rather tiresome. I didn't actually expect him to reject the opportunity presented to him, to apologise. Unlike some though, that poster has got on with it, and does not whine and hold a grudge.

Fair point.

No I don't . And as one very last word on the subject I did not respond as I have a duty to my press room colleagues and to respect the embargoes placed upon us and also was mindful not to reveal any information the aforementioned colleagues had directly asked Gus,and may wish to use in their own editorial throughout that day.

I was about to reveal answers Gus gave to my own questions but was...........er unable to do so.

If only this lightness of touch were to be found on the North Korean branch of NSC....

I reported Husty today to the Moderators because I thought it was a disgraceful thread/post.
If a Palace fan had done it, they would have got a year/life ban. Husty got an infraction.
Not having a pop at the mods, but there does seem to be double standards, eg, HB&B's ban recently, compared to wishing to cripple a Brighton player on crutches.

The poor mods must get sick of being grouped together under one bracket! Also, they do have life's to live and families to support and often get unreasonable abuse. Fair play to them for doing the job.

It was indeed one of the worst, and most disgraceful postings on NSC. I must admit a simple infraction did seem 'lenient'.

Everyone is rightly wound up today after losing at Bolton and Palace looming on the horizon.

Try to take a step back, it is difficult, but can be done.

We all have more in common (being Albion fans), than we have differences, so don't let the tensions tear us apart.

As a mod I have that the crap Bozza has to put up with is at times appalling, and you don't know just how lucky you are or appreciate the time and effort he commits to running NSC for YOUR benefit, not his.

Remember the alternatives to NSC, (a) Seagulls Chat, which is as dead as a dodo, (b) Brightonfans, where exiles from NSC feel sorry from themselves, and (c) NSP, owned and run by an idiot, which has one daily hello thread and an occasional one about biscuits.

Get behind the team, sing your nuts out next Sunday against the common enemy, and remember what a lucky bunch of gimps we are to have the best stadium in the country (the Reebok is pretty damn good though), a chairman who is subsidising you every time you park your bum in a seat to the tune of £15 a throw, and a city to which you should be proud.

Wise words indeed.......and overall I believe the Brighton supporting moderators do an excellent job, that is mostly thankless.

Perhaps the moderators could also step back a bit when an obvious Palace troll comes on the forum and is told to ...ahem....go forth and multiply by a passionate brighton supporter and not be quite so quick to issue bans/infractions.

Sort of quid quo pro.

The brief we all moderate under is "No abuse" from ANYONE, reasonable and healthy debate is fine, but name calling etc is not, by ANYONE.

I don't wish to fuel this debate any further as it has been done to death quite honestly, consequently I will not get into a heavy debate over it, for no other reason than I don't want to, and quite honestly I am enjoying my lager and my saturday night in (oh and I am on a promise later :) )

So lets all hold hands, swing them in a happy and jovial way, kiss and be friends
