Stevie P: Fantastic turn out at the Beam Back. Food, drink and staff were ordered 4 days ago when we were expecting 700 but hoping for 1000. Can't believe that so many turned up.

Stevie P: No it wasn't.

We did actually try very hard to cater for the expected turnout. 202 people saying they'd come on this thread and there were 10 times that many. Despite offering a £5 discount for advance booking 1000 people appear to have decided to pay on the day.[/i]

So lets get this straight. The volume of catering they supplied at the beamback was largely based on the figure of 202 people replying on a poll on the BBS, saying that they'd be attending. :lolol:

Christ up a stick. Clowns. Absolute clowns.

So...
They got 10 times as many as 202 - so about 2000. 1000 chose to pay on the day, meaning 1000 pre booked. So... 1000 fans pre booked, and Palace ordered food, drink and staff for between 700 and 1000. Words fail me.

t.b.f. I would have thought the best thing about Sunday for them was the hot dogs, AND THEY BLOODY RAN OUT. Could the day get any worse!

I suppose you could have woken up early on a Sunday morning, travelled to Brighton, see your team come up against everything you wish yours' was, get absolutely ANNIHILATED, then get frog marched back onto the train in torrential rain, piss-wet through, safe in the knowledge that the following day you'll wake up in a shithole.

Its not travel chaos, its organised structured and managed queueing. I have queued at stadiums all over the country, why does our queueing get more negative vibe than any of these?

What stadium anywhere in the country has a station 100m from the ground, a fast dual carriageway next door, parking on and off campus, standard bus routes north and south within 300m, and 3 park and rides dedicated to match day traffic?
Well said sir!

Exactly, there's still 20k plus there till the end

Indeed and there was still a few thousand at 4.30 when I left after celebrating in the North concourse. Happy days.
The train to Brighton station was memorable. Full of drunk but happy Albion fans. Love it:cool:.:drink::whisky::cheers:

Oh My Goodness – the Nigels have not taken the 3-0 defeat well have they.

It would appear that Steve Parish has got himself embroiled in a public slanging match on Twitter again with Palace fans as he had the downright cheek to congratulate us on our win. This has led to the rehashing of an old argument with certain fans still furious at his treatment of Freedman. It’s descended into Parish asking other fans to grass up the Twitter bullies so he can set the force of the law on them and also ban them from Selhurst for life. Palace players have also got themselves in Twitter fest arguments about their commitment following the St Patricks Day Rout.

Holloway ,apparently, IS a West Country idiot- he got the tactics wrong - the substitutions wrong - he complained at getting his coat wet while thousands of Palace stood in the soaking wet in abject humiliation - he also dismissed the game as just another game and he doesn’t get the rivalry – Gus does! Fans are turning on fans on the internet as they argue about the defeat.

Some now say we aren’t their true rivals – others disagree. To the game itself – they bossed it until we scored ! we shouldn’t have scored – we are cheating diving injury feigning nancy boys – the ref gave everything to us – it rained – the pitch was wet which suited our hoof ball style – it shouldn’t have rained – it was the wrong rain – they got wet we didn’t.

Kuszczak should be arrested for inciting a riot – the vertical finger pointing Zaha of last week apparently forgotten – Williams ran the show – their fullbacks had bad games – Dikgacoi should never play for them again.

We never sang – they didn’t like our songs – we left early – they never leave early – the Palace who did leave early got held back by Police in the rain – The Police marched them too far aimlessly up & down Queens Road pre match – post match The Police made them stand on Falmer station in the rain – it was cold – it had puddles on it – it never rains in Croydon.

Meanwhile at the Selhurst beamback all was not well – apparently the score was the same as at the Amex – they didn’t like that –more people turned up than expected – a Selhurst first! - the picture quality was poor – the beer ran out – it was too expensive (£15) – the food was shite – they lost 3-0.

And so it goes on and on – and to think we suffered a heartbreaking last minute 2-3 defeat at Withdean , the 5-0 & 3-0 defeats at Selhurst and the 1-3 Amex humiliation. We were upset and down but I don’t recall us turning on each other to this degree – some Clubs just don’t have any class.

A beautifully-crafted appraisal of a cocky, shitty, no-mark football club in complete disarray. Love it.

If anybody watched match of the day on Saturday you could see that man united, who were beating reading to effectively seal the title, had essentially emptied their stands with around 5 minutes to go. It happens EVERYWHERE.

If a ground is chocker then when a few thousand leave with 5 minutes to go you see the spaces. If on the other hand the ground is only half full to start with then the gaps....................do you see where I'm going with this ?

The Albion provided Palace fans with Croydon beer. We gave them padded seats. We showed them a film of Palace Legends. We did not inflict vulgar goal music on them after we scored. We did not keep them locked in the ground for an hour after the game, whilst the bloke on the public-address system taunted them after their loss.

Frankly, the way Palace treat Albion fans at Selhurst Park is a disgrace.

I hope that Crystal Palace watched and learned. That is how to treat away fans with dignity. That is how to win with a touch of class, on and off the pitch.

Gotta say your drinks are cheap at the Amex. Got 8 pints in, gave the African girl behind the bar 40 quid and she gave me 22 quid back in change. Worst part of the day apart from the result, was getting a top soaking. Looking forward to coming back and putting in a better performance. Good luck for the rest of the season, expect a tough game at Forest in a couple of weeks time....

The £22 note was a fake.

Hehe I love the fact that even the Nigels that went to Selhurst had an equally shitty day due to the fact they couldn't get anything to eat or drink AND saw their team soundly thrashed by the Albion. Parish arguing on twitter is so Jeremy Kyle but also so suited to a team like Palace.

Here's a guess. The reference to an "African" behind the till in your heart warming tale is relevant because:

1) Africans are thick
2) Blacks are thick
3) Whites ( you) are clever...

Couldnt you have said "the barmaid" or "girl"? Ethnicity is relevant how?

I hope she gobbed in your Fosters.

Yes. Yes..a problem with women. Clearly.

Our Palace friend felt that it was noteworthy that an African gave him too much change. If someone at Smellhurst undercharged me I wouldn't feel the urge to mention the till jockeys Ethnicity...what relevance is there in doing so?

I'm not one of these liberal groovers who see racism where it isn't...we all KNOW he was having a sly dig with his post.
