Glad you like Brighton as i really do believe each to their own hence i didn't mind my ex being veggie!!

She on the other hand was a total bitch who wouldn't let me have meat in the flat or even eat any in front of her.

That's totally out of order. As mentioned earlier in the thread, Mrs G is a meat eater but I wouldn't dream of stopping her eating meat. We don't have much meat in the house though.

We do feed some to the kids once in a while as we're not bringing them up veggie - my daughter loves her meat "I love pig", she says, although my son is none too keen - as I believe that no-one has a right to impose his or her views on others, whether that be dietary, religious or whatever.

Like i have always said frredom of choice is great for children. My little boy eats red meat and my wife dosen't eat cuts only burgers etc.

We would never dream of telling each other what we can or can't eat. People like my ex jsut mystify me

I do eat meat although I tend to avoid red meat. I do love my vegtables though and I prefer fish to meat in any case.

I think these days it's pretty academic as to which is the healthier lifestyle as the additives that go into both meat and crops are something to be cocerned about. Rather like Global Warming it's be a few hundred years before we discover what the long term consequences are.

I can't remember people suffering from allegies when I was young the way they do now. I don't know whether that's because the depth of allergic reaction wasn't understood then or whether this is a bi product of the additives we absorb daily in our food.
