I don't recall him playing consistently in the centre that or any season. He was good that season though, and decent last term.

He's been alright when not "rotated" or injured, he was excellent last night for example. And to say he was poor for Birmingham is ridiculous. I do not see how you can make such a claim.

From the stats i looked at the end of last season, he'd put the most amount of crosses in the premeirship around a 100 and had 5 assists. That's pretty poor when Birmingham's forward line was full of good headers of the ball

maybe... lennon and pennant are one type of midfielder... gerrad and beckham are another and gerrad is better because hes faster and has more energy. You put beckham and gerrad in and leave out pennant and lennon then you don't have options to change tactics at right midfield. Obvious.

Additionally Downing plays left mid which Beckham's never going to, King has worked in the holding role in the middle before and SWP has potential and offers an option. What he really needs is to leave Chelski and get back to playing regular football.

If everyone's fit (which granted they're not currently) I make that 11 players Beckham has in front of him and rightly so.

Gerrard was alright, not great. Beckham and Lampard were not good.

I went to the World Cup, and Beckham (when actually watching live) was better than both Lampard & Gerrard. He was our biggest threat in terms of setting up goals, and never EVER EVER stopped running.... he turned me from hating the bloke to being a big fan...
